not impressed when i saw him play,only the once mind but didnt really make any impression whatsoever. Find it a strange one when Leeds have let a number of highly rated , more experienced halfes leave like Briggs or Moore, who have both been ripping it up in the Championship.......dont they have any more in the academy ? what happened to the half back production line Leeds had ??

I don't know about Moore but with Briggs it got to the point when he was ready for the next step, and as good as he is (although to be fair it's only ever been proven to Champ level) he's no Danny McGuire.



He may well have eventually got his chance (especially early this coming season) but the kid wanted to be playing. First team, week in week out.



We have a pretty old squad (not sure if you've noticed?!?) our "kids" are 19 (Watkins & Hardaker), 20 (Pitts & Clarkson), 21 (McShane), 22 (BJB) & 23 (Coady & Amor). We've even got fringe players like Burgess (23) & Kirke (2icon_cool.gif. Ablett has only just this year been recognised with a "starting" shirt number and he's 24.



Having patience is tough when you're a kid that just wants to go out and play and you could be 21/22 before you even get a bite of the cherry, and 23/24 before you get the 6 shirt you're after. I mean, if you're a forward there's a chance injuries/fatigue/form could mean you get a run out and a chance to impress, earn your spot on the bench, then in the team, and take it from there (Ablett/Clarkson style) but when there's only one person in your position, and that one person happens to be Danny McGuire, well... how long would you be willing to wait?



The Leeds half back production line seems to be doing ok, the only problem is we make them so well we're still using the ones that rolled off it 10 years ago.

And I was very impressed with Stevie Ward earlier this year when I saw him in the U18's academy game at Wigan.

I have been completely underwhelmed with all of this year’s signings including this one.



Now before I get branded as a ‘Whino’ ‘pessimist’ or ‘fekkwitt’ I’m hoping they add the depth and quality required to make the next season a successful one. It’s just I’ve not got excited about any of these players.



Last year Eastwood turned up – on paper a top draw signing, the year before Danny B – both players something to get a little giddy about.

Apparently Leeds Carnegie offered him a contract but he signed for gloucster academy instead. Maybe the sleeve knows a lot more about this kid than we think. He has played under 16 england internation at union i believe.
