Yeah that's something else I hope the officialdom manages to find a better balance with next year.

We have a looming crisis in RL, and contact sport generally, around brain injury. The truth nobody wants to hear is that heavy contact sports probably are likely to give you brain injury over time.

The authorities will be highly concerned about present and future legal action, and they are over-compensating in my view.

Like most things it's probably six and half a dozen - players absolutely need to have the discipline not to attack/impact the head of opponents. But sometimes there isn't a common sense application - particularly when players are shortening as they enter the tackle and the defender really is on a hiding to nothing. It must be frustrating.

There's a difference between a clear head-high shot, or striking at the head of a held/prone player, and committing to a tackle there the ball carrier is dropping. We cannot eliminate all risk and I'm not sure the current penalty regime is going to stop these accidents from happening.

Anyway a couple of Zane's problems were self-inflicted.

In the hope of a good running prop, what about Mark Nicholls from the Rabbitohs. Can't believe that it would happen (seeing as he has just been in the grand final) but according to the NRL contracts lists, he doesn't he is off contract in 2021 and doesn't appear to be allocated to another team. https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/01/23/202 ... #rabbitohs

For those who pine for a traditional prop as a opposed to the fashionable "middles" we keep signing, Tom Amone of Wests might fit the bill. Does not appear to be contracted for 2022 and at 5 feet 11 and 17 stone 5 he would seem to be, as the Aussies say, a big bopper. Hasn't made that many NRL appearances, so he wouldn't cost the world, but he has a good pedigree and he is young. Could he, would he fit the bill?

It’s the Leeds way..quite often we only hear about a rumour the day(s) before the signing is announced

I am sure the club is working like crazy on this in the background, it'll be good when the announcements come to see which way we've gone. We might need to wait a wee while longer.

I think we were linked with him last season.Who ever we sign i doubt he will be a seasoned NRL prop he'l bel more on the lines of King as i doubt we have enough cap space.

Next year I expect we'll have more significant cap to work with, assuming we let go Dwyer, Briscoe, Gale, Thompson, Martin... maybe even Mellor. Myler? I doubt we'll lose all of them but we should lose most IMO. I feel we'll need a bit of a broom through the senior players.

We will need to keep on top of upgrading our youngsters of course.

I guess we'll go for a King+ signing for next year. Ideally we want someone who might not be a Prior or Tetevano, but can increase competition for places for the matchday 17. The bottom line is that our two genuine props are 22 and 20 years old. Prior and Tet are what I would more call "middles". I think both are more effective slightly wide of centre field.

Wing/FB I'm very lukewarm about unless we can find a real bolter. We have an established starting back three, with some cover from youngsters coming through and then the likes of Blake Austin... I really don't see the point in signing another Luke Briscoe here to be honest (otherwise why not just retain him).

If we can't afford/identify someone better than Tom Briscoe now, let's just wait a year until we have more cap and another year development into the likes of Tindall and Broadbent to see how they're shaping up.

We've lost King, L Briscoe, Mclelland and Hurrell and have a quota spot available. Austin can cover some outside back positions and that's part of reason we signed him but we are most definitely a prop short and a wing short... I'd be very shocked if we didn't at least bring in a good outside back but everything i read at the moment is saying we don't have much cap space..
