Austin is a good player and im glad we’ve signed him to see how he goes.

He was outstanding in his first year at Wire but seems to have lost his way, I actually expect him and Sezer to nail down 6&7 spot next year.

Im really looking forward to see how it pans out but we have 3 very good halfbacks now and we haven’t had that since 2015.

I don’t think it can have helped us doing a pre-season last year without fit half backs either. Hopefully all three are fit going into this pre-season and we can practice as a team.

I don’t get all the negativity about Thompson , he will be cheap, he isn’t small and in the playoff semi final him and belatedly Tommy were the only props who looked up for a fight .

If we look at our last really successful squads 2015 & 2017 our props we're
2015:
8. Leuluai
10. Peacock
17. Cuthbertson
19. Singleton
30. Garbutt ( Came Mid Season as well)

2017.
8. Galloway
10. Cuthbertson
16. Singleton
17. Garbutt
20. Mullally

If our pack next year was too be:
8. Oledzki
10. Prior
13. Tetevano
18. Holroyd
20. Thompson

In 2015 & 2017 we only had 5 main first team props in the squad & Cuthbertson was being used as sort of Ball playing Prop/13 if we compare the squads.

Prior = Peacock ( our enforcer leading from the front he's a close too JP as we'll probably get)

Tetevano = Leuluai ( Can provide that impact and whack either from the start or bench)

Oledzki= Garbutt ( Our big meter maker and Oledzki is fitter than Garbutt and can play longer minutes)

Holroyd= Singleton ( Holroyd is probably gonna be better than Singleton & is still young and plenty of time too develop he's also bigger than Singleton was/is).

Thompson= Cuthbertson ( That Middle player who can play
Prop/13 Cuthbertson was more flashier and had more flair with ball playing/ offloading than Thompson but Thompson does the dirty work Cuthbertson didn't.

We could probably do with another prop for 2022 especially with our luck with injuries last couple of years but some of our most successful teams we haven't had a shed load of props so if we went with what we have and get some luck with injuries we could be a force again next year.

I think it makes more sense to see how he (Austin) goes rather than deciding before he's pulled a shirt on that we should get rid

Austin has been given a season to effectively interview for Gale's place in the squad. If he does well he'll be rewarded with a proper-sized contract (freed up from the funds following Gale's exit) which reflects his actual status/background.

Yes it's actually, possibly, a better bit of business than Saints taking Konnie from us on a similar basis.

They'll be very lucky indeed to get a full season out of Hurrell fitness-wise.

If Austin doesn't claim a place in the 13 by year end nothing really lost. If he does, he'll be worth a decent contract to replace Gale, very much agree.

We have done some really good business on and off the field for this "proper crack" year. The club is ready to go for it, and they mean business you can tell. I do expect there to be a lot of change at the end of next season though.
