Re: Transfer Talk / Rumour Thread V3 : Mon Jan 03, 2022 7:38 pm
Hopefully we may be moving towards a point where Covid becomes less of an issue.
I know of a few unjabbed Cas and Leeds players who caught Covid last year. Given they should now have more natural immunity, I hope their unvaccinated status won’t be such an issue in 2022.
I’ve had 3 jabs and also caught Covid just before Xmas and still feel quite rough, but can understand why fit pro athletes think they don’t need a jab, albeit a selfish stance.

On Trueman as a footballer and in particular a defender I don’t think he is good enough for NRL, plus not durable enough.

IF young Sinfield comes through I would want a more dynamic stand off than Trueman as a possible partner. young Pryce looks much More exciting to me.

Sorry mate but those figures dont add up. 30 man squads thats 15 players at 50% does equal anywhere near 1/5th of Super League unvaccinated.

Not everyone who peddle the "individual choice" line are against the vaccine. Im not for one. Im vaccinated but i arent going to berate people who arent. Its not law that people have to be. Its their choice. I dont understand why they wouldnt get jabbed but thats their decision.

Not sure how clubs can terminate contracts on the basis of not getting vaccinated. Like i say its not a legal requirement.

Trueman will have people chasing him in SL and possibly NRL. Hes a quality young half and there is a shortage of quality pivots in the game.

I think the termination would come from the player being unable to fulfil his contractual obligations to play, train and be available. For example if a player decided not to be vaccinated and as such wasn’t able to travel to France to play and struggled to train and thus play due to issue with close contacts and isolation then I can see a basis for a club terminating a contract. It isn’t so much termination for not being vaccinated rather termination as you can’t do what we pay you to do. Covid isn’t going to go away, it will always be here, over time we will learn to live with it. Misguided to think life will ever be how it was pre early 2020.

I fundamentally believe every person has a choice over what does or doesn’t happen to their body. If you don’t want a vaccine then don’t have one. However, there is a huge and I would say fundamental difference between you making a choice over what goes in your body and you using a platform or a position to comment on things you aren’t capable of commenting on. You can say I am not vaccinated and leave it at that, once you comment on anything beyond that then it’s just dangerous if you aren’t qualified to understand what you are talking about.

In terms of Trueman as a player, I think he is reasonable and no more. I don’t think he would cut it in the NRL and if a club did want to take a chance on him then any issues with vaccination status may put them off. I know somebody later on mentioned Pryce, for me he has an impact on the game and looks to impose himself. Trueman seems to let it flow by a little bit for me, bits of quality but not enough and doesn’t grab the game and make things happen. However all opinions isn’t it and somebody may see things I don’t.

I think what people are getting at here is that players who are unvaccinated players are going to be treated differently to vaccinated players at this current time.

If a vaccinated player is a close contact but gets a negative, they don’t have to isolate, but if a unvaccinated player is a close contact, they have to isolate regardless, which is where the RFL may look at it differently as said player would be basically making themselves unavailable.

We don’t want to turn this thread into a big vac talk either.

Elsewhere, as expected, The Mole has said that Wayne Bennett and the Dolphins would like to sign Konrad Hurrell for 2023. I expect Austin and Hurrell aren’t the only SL players they are looking at.

On ability Trueman is a better and younger half than our two encumbant’s. If he became available we should be very interested, but think Cas would sell him anywhere before us!

Not convinced he's a better player than Sezer. If he sees his contract out ends 2022 Cas won't have a say where he ends up. I suspect Warrington will be favourites with Powel there, that's providing Powel is doing a decent job.

Yes i suspect they'll look for easy cheaper pickings from over here to bolster their ranks. Could see a fair few going back home unfortunately.

If they’re looking at players like Austin and Hurrell, they probably won’t win a game in 2013!

We won’t be terminating contracts over here. Would cost the club more in contract law, than in just paying the salary. Plus they’d be loosing a player…….
