Re the GH interview which I have only just read.
Yes it`s a good read but he does seem to be putting the issues around recruitment at Smith`s door and not putting any blame on himself.
The fact Smith told players like Austin, Sezer and Walters decisions would be made later into the season or at the end of it obviously contributed to them leaving which if I were them would look for a move rather than wait.
GH is also saying Smith will have his own squad next year and by definition if we are in the same mess it`s down to Smith not GH.
Very clever article by Gary imo.

I would not live the other side of the world away from my family either. Arguably he could have come back played the last 3 games and requested a release from his contract and left on good terms but has potentially gone down a different path. We will never know but regardless it's time to move on now. My original point was that in the majority of jobs if you go AWOL from work and don't contact your employer or provide an adequate reason for your absence then you don't get paid. Only the individual and the club know the actual situation and that is the way it should be until a solution giving closure is in place.

Yes but there seems to be a recurring pattern firstly with Hardaker declaring he wanted to stay but negotiations broke down then Leeming leaving on a freeby why?Tetevano insurance ? Walters getting messed around with his contract, players falling out Holroyd and Newman the Austin pantomime and now the Nene fiasco, in over 40 years of supporting Leeds I have never know a season like this so where is the problem?

And according to Uncle Gary the coach is in charge of recruitment so if we lose heavily to Cas and RS position becomes untenable where does that leave the 3 marquee spots that need filled. Sadly it looks like a soap opera that is going to continue. It's not going to happen but Leeds need a complete overhaul from top to bottom. Hetherington Smith JJB Walker Grix based on performance all their jobs should be at risk. Only Ronnie the Rhino should be saved! Bit melodramatic I know but I am expecting more of the same next year.

There will be more activity and signings behind the scenes than we know about. In reality RS has his new signings and one off-season to sort the mess out, as long as there isn’t some senior player revolt.

A bad start to next year and I’d say he’s gone. That could happen. Equally he could turn it around.

So a new 7 and 4 in addition to 1 and 6 doesn’t necessarily make us win that game today; nor does James Bentley or Sangare coming back. It will be really interesting to see where else we look - seems like we are in for a new 9. I think at least one more big body too.
