I don't get why people are so bitter about Ablett, been a great servant to the club and has even been influential in some of the greatest wins in the clubs history. Obviously in hindsight it was a year too far but i had no issue with him having last year with us, deserved it on loyalty and past commitment. No one new that he wasnt going to pull a first team shirt on again and i dare to say had he been available early in the year could of been the stabaliser we so badly needed

Agreed Lurch. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. KS certainly didn't' sign these players up knowing they would be out for the season.

I'm actually wondering whether a fit again Crosby could be a massive boost to the side. Do we know whether he will be fit for the start of the season?

Folau to return to Rugby League playing for Tonga. This will pave his way to a return. I would take him quite happily at Leeds, I don’t care about people’s beliefs you will never change what people think. I obviously don’t agree with what he believes as we live in a modern world. Class player to be wasted.

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

As Corporal Jones might say "they don't like it up em..."

I wouldn't take Folau at Leeds, we don't need a divisive figure like him thanks.

Yeah, as Ferdy says... teams arnt stuck with the same Marquees, they can nominate whichever 2 they want at the start of each season. If we sign somebody on a higher wage than hurrell, we can use the Marquee on that player instead and Hurrells full salary then counts on the cap.

Nottingham tigers right in that Gale would come with the added bonus of cap dispensation for being an England international and also for being club trained by us, if we then used the Marquee on him, he would count very little on the cap. Marquee or not, Gales dispensations are very handy for us...Should he sign!

I stand corrected gents, I thought any player with a contract value of >£175k was automatically a marquee :thumb:

Not bitter at all but lets be brutally honest here Abbo played 2018 battered his hip was shot & he had lined up a new career as a plumber in Oz with the intention of playing P/T.
He was "done" then until KS gave him a 2yr deal despite saying when he arrived as DOR too much SC was sat in the stands.
Ablett is a Club Great goes without saying but he was done before he got a deal & nobody gets playing contracts on sentiment in a SC sport.
The same wuth Crosby joined with knee issues & got a 3yr contract now we have potentially Gale joining??
There's a pattern forming that could prove costly again.

That's not strictly true Mark. Ablet was already offered a one year contract, but decided he would rather look at emigrating to Aus and earn out there, with a business on the side. He was offered a 2 year contract on reduced terms and to be part of the leadership in the club, and accepted that to stay. He was out with an ankle problem also, not the hip, and it became infected which is why he is where he is, not something that could have bene forseen.

I have seen Gale out and about and running, and I hold my heads up I am no medic, but he looks fit as a fiddle to me. Hence why clubs have medicals before making signings.
