I have seen Gale out and about and running, and I hold my heads up I am no medic, but he looks fit as a fiddle to me. Hence why clubs have medicals before making signings.

As someone who suffers from post-rugby injuries it's not the simple running that is the problem. It's the twisting, turning & sprinting. Never mind the tackling. I will feel the same about Gale when he plays as you do about Stevie Ward.

And isn't that hence why they have the thourough medicals done by professionals? because they know what they are doing.

I have no worries with regards Stevie Ward at any time. That is more luck than any issue.

Folau to return to Rugby League playing for Tonga. This will pave his way to a return. I would take him quite happily at Leeds, I don’t care about people’s beliefs you will never change what people think. I obviously don’t agree with what he believes as we live in a modern world. Class player to be wasted.

It's one thing to believe the religiously indoctrinated things he does but another to publicise hate speech. I don't agree with what he believes either, but it's nothing to do with living in a modern word, it's just that you'd have to be a d1ck if you did.

I have it on very good authority that there was no medical for Gale today. But that he actually had it last Thursday, a full day of investigations, and passed it all. And it is a three year contract agreed, and Leeds have absolutely no concerns at all on his health and fitness.

This all looks like a done deal but ideally Myler needs to find a home too. There really is no point in him staying at the club with McLelland in the wings and other emergency cover if needed.

Gale could be very good for us to be fair.

Golding, Myler, Ferres look gone. The interesting thing for me now is the other overseas/NFT players and what we do there, if anything. There are some other question marks over some senior squad members such as Singleton.

We need something big and uncompromising in the pack to give lads like Mik, Holroyd, Dupree some more support and direction while they develop. We’ll lose another bunch of players naturally for 2021 anyway but I’m glad the club has made some decisions and is doing what they can.

I’m told that Gale has a number of dispensations meaning he will only count as around 50k on the cap. Centralised contract, Home Grown, club trained, england international. That’s probably a third of what he will actually get paid and probably a third of what Myler is on the cap.

Yeah, as Ferdy says... teams arnt stuck with the same Marquees, they can nominate whichever 2 they want at the start of each season. If we sign somebody on a higher wage than hurrell, we can use the Marquee on that player instead and Hurrells full salary then counts on the cap.

Nottingham tigers right in that Gale would come with the added bonus of cap dispensation for being an England international and also for being club trained by us, if we then used the Marquee on him, he would count very little on the cap. Marquee or not, Gales dispensations are very handy for us...Should he sign!

Ridiculously, I don’t think it even has to be the two highest earning players.
Hypothetically, imagine Harrell is on 200k and Gale is on 175k. If Hurrell is named as the marquee player, 175k of that is counted on the cap (so 25k dispensation). If Gale is named as the marquee player, only 75k would be counted on the cap (so 100k dispensation). That’s 75k more Leeds have on the salary cap by signing Gale than signing someone else.
And that’s why they are willing to take the risk of signing a 31 year old who hasn’t played for two years due to two serious injuries. And why they are willing to pay good money as a transfer fee to get him.

It certainly makes good business sense.

For both clubs, I’d suggest.
And for the player himself. His Cas contract has an option in the clubs favour for 2021. If he stays at Cas and plays well, the club would take that option and by the end of 2021 he’d have less earning potential when he came to negotiating a deal in two years time. If he stays at Cas and suffers another serious injury (or doesn’t recover from the two he has had in 2018 and 2019), the club wouldn’t extend his deal and he would be trying to get a deal after three years out of the game.
Going to Leeds, he gets a secure three year deal.
Makes sense all round.
