Having looked at the operation rules, it would appear not.

In the general competition rules section you have the following -

B1:9 No later than 31 October prior to the start of each season, each Club shall notify the
Board in writing of the names of up to 25 (30 for National League) players who shall
constitute that Club's provisional first team squad for that Season ("the Provisional First
Team Squad") . Each Club shall notify the Board immediately of any changes to this
Provisional First Team Squad. No later than 1 February prior to the commencement of
the season each Club shall notify the Board in writing of the squad (“First Team
Squad”) numbers of those 25 players who will then become the Clubs First Team Squad
and only members of that First Team Squad shall be entitled to play for that Club’s first
team in League and/or Cup matches. The Board shall ensure that its Performance
Department monitors use of players by all Clubs.
B1:10 Clubs may with the approval of the Board, to replace injured or ill players or players
transferred to other Clubs or who have ceased playing the Game, alter the constituent
members of their First Team Squad during a Season and all such changes shall be
notified in writing to, and shall be subject to the approval of, the Board. In addition Clubs
shall be able to apply for dispensation to replace a member of their First Team Squad
with a Player that the Club believes is of a higher standard than the Player he replaces.
B1:11 Clubs shall be entitled to select and play any player from their First Team Squad from
time to time for any Match.

When you look at the League specific operational rules it doe not have anything in about player eligibility. However, if you look in the CC specific rules it has a whole section explaining player eligibility and the deadlines for changes to the squad. Ergo, just the above rules apply to the league (for both SL and Championship).

I was under the understanding that a player did have to be registered with a club at a certain point to be eligable to play for that team in that specific season. The idea was brought in to stop what happened in the past with the short term signings like morley at the Bulls.

As for eastwood i thought we held his registration anyways and registered as a Leeds player but loaned him to the Bulldogs thus meaning he can start whenever

Whichever way you look at it (and whether there is a deadline set by the RFL or not) the RFL have to authorise a player to enable them to take part in the comp and in Eastwood's example, I presume, that can only take place if and when he has his Visa approved.

That being the case I don't imagine that he has been successfully registered by Leeds with the RFL at any point this season so far.

i thought the only rule they brought in to hinder this was that a player brought in would have his wages count on the cap as if he had been there all season!! so if wire gave joey johns say 30 grand a month that would be calculated as if he had been there all season getting paid that.

Not as far as I am aware and from what I can see in the operation rules for 2009 there is only a restriction on player eligibility in the specific CC rules. The league specific rule are silent on player elgibility so the general competition rules apply and the information on first team and full squads is above. As you can see you can transfer a player in and out of your squad at anytime if approved by the board.

I am happy (well sort of ) to be proved wrong if anyone else can show me different?
