Beyond the obvious frustration and disappointment if this turns out to be true, is just plain curiosity. Just what is the plan? If Smith wants to keep his job, and GH his reputation, it's going to have to be a fiendishly good one.

Brooks only said Leigh are leading the chase for Croft. There will be more than one club chasing his signature.

If Thompson is off to Wigan and Eseh Saints, maybe we get hold of Burgess. That would definitely add punch.

What would be the bigger price to pay, spending on a quality half we desperately need or going with myler next year?

With Leighs season now done I'm sure they won't mess around getting their recruitment announced.

If Leigh get him ahead of us the cap space we have then there should be hell to pay and heads should roll. It would be an outrage quite simply

If Leigh or another club sign Croft and Gary does not have somebody of equal or better quality lined up then it is a disgrace.Based upon the current top 6 we have the worst half backs.

So we've moved from one fairy tale to another, Burgess announced an extension with south's earlier this year. Whats the next pipe dream, sharkys gone quiet after his claims a few weeks ago.

Catalan have a load leaving, Tomkins, May, Keighran, think Pearce is going, Whitley to Saints, MG to us, young Chan down under, would think they will also be in for Croft.

As a few have said how cunning is our plan?

Feels like Baldrick at moment.

It does look rather like a Turnip you're right.

It's interesting to hear Lam talk really positively about recruitment, where as RS has mentioned several times about the 'difficult market'. The mindset just seems set on 'competing' which can be interpreted many ways, where as lam has come out and said we will move players around til we're consistently in the top 2.

With the cap available we should be going all out for Croft if he’s willing to leave and Salford willing to sell.

My only issue would be if he wants an NRL get out clause.

It's just not happening is it this statement signing. We're putting a lot of faith in this crop of young players to return former glories backed up by some steady gap fillers.

With the season tickets launched and still no word it all looks a bit worrying this leave recruitment late strategy, something many of us felt was happening a few months ago, 'no no, we might have made the signings but they've not been announced yet...'. I think we can now safely say that's not the case.
