We’d be better off tempting Wakey with a fee for Fifita, or KR for Mulhern.
We could also pay anyone a fee to take Merrin and Hurrell off us so we could get rid of this Marquee thing , which IMO is holding us back.
I’d love to see

Walker
Tom Johnstone/Briscoe
Newman
Reece Lynne
Handley
Mclelland
Gale
Cuthbo
Ward
Martin
Mulhern
Leeming
Ava

Subs-
Mellor
Crosby
Singo
Dwyer

Give that team a year or two and think we’d see some success......

Whatever...

One question - can Newman play on the left? Hurrell was solid as a rock on the right for Tonga. I don't think I'd ever seen him play on the left before he joined Leeds.

Hurrell played on the right for Titans when in NRL

Wire in for Prior now also which shows you the lack of NRL players available

How on earth could Warrington fit anyone under the cap? Even signing Joe Vickery would be a squeeze for them

How is having two marquee players holding us back.Without Merrin last year we may have gone down?

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

I’m not going to lose sleep if we don’t get him. We do need a good, starting prop, but there will be other as yet unreported options.

We shouldn’t sign anyone who can’t command a starting place.

With JJB, Ablett, Singleton, Golding, Peteru and now Ferres gone, plus Myler maybe still available to move, that’s a fair chunk of cap freed up, even allowing for contracts loaded to go up this year.
I’d like to see a further four additions, Wing, Centre, Prop and Hooker.
Wing - Tom Davies on loan was doing the rounds and would probably bridge a gap nicely for us.
Centre - I’d like to see is get someone like Jake Connor who could legitimately make Hurrell and Newman fight for the start, but could also fill in at 1 or 6 if needed.
Prop - I’d rather a heavyweight ball carrier than a worker like Prior, I’d be looking to the Pacific Islanders.
Hooker - Leeming is the name linked recently, I’d take that, gives Johnson a year to progress with less pressure.

Probably unlikely though.

Because it’s a team sport. Let me ask you this. Do you think Merrin is three times better, three tones more use to the team than Martin, or Ava?
Because that’s what the disparity in salaries is. How would it make you feel if this was your workplace? Happy and settled?
We achieved so much success by building from within and being a real team. Top players were payed more for sure, but not the huge inequity we see now........
Think Leeds only went down the Marquee route in desperation to please an increasingly impatient fanbase.
