We literally did get the ball back a handful of times - that has nothing to do with us being abject in most other facets of the game. Short kick offs are not the devil; our main issue is the quality of the squad.
I don’t really care if we win any trophies I just want a few on here to repeat these magical words next season:
I’m sorry Jim For doubting you You were right again You always are
Keep taking the mass hypnosis lessons, you'll get there. On a different note, the post you were replying to is another tiresome example of the low level personal abuse that keeps polluting this forum. There are some wildly differing viewpoints on here but the vast majority do it in a civilised manner. However, some of it is just plain nasty. Can't believe we collectively tolerate it.

As long as I have you Clueso the rest is water off a cheerleader’s cheek.
Why did Leeds stop doing cheerleader dancing by the way? Did we finally figure out it was exceptionally pervy?

It’s obviously because Pom Poms are expensive and GH is so cheap. Plus we lost some of the key cheerleaders and have net replaced them and are therefore scraping around for bargain bin pre match entertainment.
Sarcasm aide, I wouldn’t want O’Brien. For me he’s the epitome of a roadblock to any of the young players we have or may be looking at at 9. Unfortunately because of the issues in the halves and at centre, I’d imagine the quota spots would be needed there so I’d rather run with what we’ve got at 9 in the hope they continue their development.
Surely, nobody could actually be pleased if we signed Adam O'Brien???? He is a player being released by one of the few teams that finished below us for gods sake. If we keep doing Castleford / Wakefield level recruitment, guess what? We finish in Castleford / Wakefield level league positions.
And btw no personal attacks from me. That's completely needless. Just a difference of opinion, fuelled by frustration. And Jim, if we do well next season, I will happily apologise and admit you were right...
The short kick offs for me are more a problem because of the mindset that seems baked in around short cuts to gain possession and territory. The games (or rather halves) where we played well were based on the core fundamentals of the game done well.
Have to say I'm personally not a fan of the kind of O'Brien/Powell type hooker signing. Danny Levi I'd have taken because he's a step above what we have for a year or two... We're going to have to play CJ at some point or he'll go anyway. I was impressed with him against Cas, saw a glimmer of the promise he showed through the juniors.
We have a couple of other good hookers but I'd rather we signed Harvey Smith from Wakey as understudy to CJ rather than a "solid pro" over CJs (and O'Connor's) head.
We have struggled at 9 for a long time now, I really don't think another average/solid hooker is what we need at all. I'd probably try to sort out the half back and centre, ideally another non-quota big body prop, and then risk 9 with CJ and JOC. If they don't work out this year then we'll have to go overseas again for a player more than likely, which is where we might need to swap one of our other OOC overseas players (Fus, Martin, Lisone I think?)
The facts are we have had a "quiet" few years because the salery cap is beginning to work as it should, Leeds , Hudds, Cas FC and to a massive extent Wire are all on the wrong side of it, whereas Leigh, Salford & KR , who historically have been lesser clubs have benifitted. This was how the cap was supposed to work, level the comp.
Saints have had a "golden" generation era, Wigan have always produced plenty of tallent, Cat's alway (and are allowed to), spend the maximum, with the advantage of Southern France,
We have produced plenty of good pro players (You could play a team in Superleague made up of X Rhino's), The problem is over the last 8 years not many have been "stars" the best probably being Oledski. Handley, Newman,These cant be compared to earlier generations of Sinfield,Maguire,Welsby,Lomax, George Williams,
We need some very good breakthrough players from the acadamy with sensible recruitment to get back to the very top as we wont be able to buy success.

See, I completely disagree with that. Not just because of the clear mismanagement of Leeds first team but to say the cap is working as it should isn't true, is it pushing standards up or are we punching down to level the playing field? It's great that Leigh and kr are greatly improving but that's nothing to do with the cap. And on the whole the quality of imports is greatly lower as is the quality of the games we're seeing.
Agree that it would be possible to put out a side of players currently in SL that were developed by Leeds. It'd be interesting to see whereabouts in the table it finished. Roughly level with a team of Leeds signings from the last decade is my guess.
