It is alot if true at £200k.
However if that results in better results and Croft putting bums on seats, even an average attendance increase of 1000 would more than recoup the £200k in the first season.

It is big money, but don't forget that the club saved nearly a year on Leeming's wages plus a bit on Austin at the back end of the season. That money needed to be spent.

I'm surprised it's only £200k given the length of his contract with Salford. Bearing in mind Gale cost £100k it's a reasonable fee.

The Game Caller on twitter has said we've paid £300k and will be announced tomorrow. Not sure how reliable he is.

I think RL transfer fees are paid out over time. I know that was the case in the past with bigger fees. If the deal comes off I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 'payment plan' involved, which would reduce liabilities if Croft went to the NRL. Much as I would like a statement signing, it would be bonkers to pay 300k for a player who could leave after one year.

They could potentially get that £300k back pretty quickly if it encourages season ticket sales by showing some intent, we’ve also saved a fair chunk of wages this year
