If he wants to become a head coach at Leeds one day he should build his coaching CV elsewhere and get appointed to a Leeds role on merit.
And there has to be a question mark over his record already - he's fallen out with both Hull KR coaches he has been assistant to.
I couldn't agree more. Sport has shown time and time again that just because someone was a great player for you doesn't mean they're going to be a great manager. They are completely separate skills.
This idea that "knowing the club" means you'll be a good coach has been proven to be complete rubbish repeatedly. We've got Cunningham at Saints and in football the hilarious repeated appointment of Lampard at Chelsea despite failing every time he goes back.
Fans are obsessed with former legends coming back to coach despite it very rarely working.
