Though tetevano wasn't the player we hoped for, a comparison with Holroyd wouldn't be fair as until this season he hadnt played much, is young and hadnt played for England so there would naturally be a big difference in salery.

There's a Matt Shaw piece on Leeds Live suggesting negotiations with Croft might be complicated. To be honest I think it's playing on fans paranoia. I'd be stunned if we hadn't tested the waters with the player and agent through various back channels before we started dangling financial carrots before Salford. Even in a worse case scenario I think they'll have a couple of live options in the NRL/Queensland Cup.

Half backs are worth paying for though, Shabs. Props less so, in my opinion. I'd say Croft is easily worth what we payed Tet and probably more. Every time I've seen him play against us he's scared the life out of me. One of those players who you burn up calories trying to tackle, even though you can't.

I think new kit launch. Mom is over in Aus still until New Year by the sounds, who else would we have with the profile to launch the kit, if we’re going to make a statement?

There’s no way (surely) that the sleeve would go to the trouble of negotiating a fee with Salford (and it getting leaked in the media) without first having a ‘nudge and a wink’ from the player and agent that they were agreeable to the move and terms (as otherwise he’d come out of it looking stupid if it all falls through now) and one thing we know about uncle Gary, is that he might be tight…but he’s not stupid

I think it's becoming clear just how unethical the Salford contract offer to Croft actually was.

1) They pay one player a huge sum of money despite the coaches' complaints that they're running the rest of the squad into the ground.

2) They follow up the contract offer by asking their own fans for hundreds of thousands of pounds to help sustain the club

3) They now appear keen to sell Croft less than a year because as predicted - they now appear unable to sustain their commitments to him.

I hope Croft goes to Leeds as I feel SL needs it's big clubs to be as strong as they can be atm. But a contract works both ways - he (as a high value player) agreed to play for Salford longer term and Salford in return agreed to provide him with a good wage, long term security and (if the rumours are true) a clause which allows him to exit to the NRL if the opportunity arises. He shouldn't be forced to abandon all of that if he doesn't want to.

Leeds are a great club and you would imagine they would have a better chance at making finals than Salford will next year so that may appeal. But I doubt he would want to move unless he gets another NRL clause.

Itd be a surprise if there wasn't an NRL clause after 2-3 years at least, if there was a longer contract offered. It's a long time as a young Aussie to spend in our sht climate let alone the ambition to play in the NRL again.

A huge decision ahead for him as he comes into his prime years. There was an ulterior motive with that 7 year Salford contract.

Isn’t Crofts partner British and they have a kid?

That may have a bearing on where he plays his rugby for the next few years
