If his appeal isn't successful whether he's registered or not/whether he'll be eligble or not will all be irrelevant.

True but if his appeal is successful but he falls out of the plane on the way over his registration is also irrelevant.

He should find out if his appeal has been successful middle of August and then speculation of will he/wont he will be revealed.

Your IF rendered your whole statement pointless. I could say that IF you did a straw poll of NRL coaches they would name me the greatest player of all time. Wouldn't make it any more true than your attempt to present your own opinion/trolling as being the view of several other people who have, in fact, expressed no opinion on the matter to my/your knowledge.

To register a player, you have to hold a valid playing contract for them.

To sign a valid playing contract, Eastwood would need clearance to work in the UK IIRC.

No clearance, no registration. That's my understanding of it anyway.

Well it is even more simple than that... you can only be registered with one club that is part of the RLIF. So if he is playing with the Bulldogs as a professional player, he can only be registered to the Bulldogs and not Leeds as well! Operational rule C1:1:2.

We of course should not confuse registration with being under or subject to a valid contract.

B*llocks, there is a deadline! I am wrong! Sorry everyone, just found it in another section! It is in a completely different section than the CC eligibility rules which threw me and is odd, but heh ho!

Of course I will let Saddened tell you what the exact rule is, because he clearly knows the rule number and full details?

Suffice to say the deadline has indeed passed, so I am stumped how he could indeed play before the end of the season. The only way I currently think he could play is if he was indeed on loan to the Bulldogs from Leeds, however, I don't think he can register with an RFL club without having a valid work permit or clearence... so I have no idea!!!

He can't -

IMMIGRATION STATUS
C1:4:4 The RFL will not at any time accept a registration application for an "overseas Player",
nor register the Player until it has received a copy of the Player's work permit or
satisfactory evidence that such a permit is not necessary in which case the Club must
provide a copy of the relevant immigration documentation. In cases of dispute relating
to work permits or other immigration documentation or the need therefore, the RFL will
consult the UK Border Agency and/or the Home Office as appropriate and the Board
shall take their comments or advice into account but the Board shall be entitled to
determine the matter concerned.

So, I don't think we can play him this season, but I have been wrong once on this already... so I do give up this time!
