Andy Hughes was targeted at right back and it worked. I no he's not a right back and so does everyone else apart from Grayson because he plays him in both FB positions whenever the first choice is out. He's coming towards the end of his career i no but he simply too slow to play there. He isn't the greatest tackler, his positioning is pretty dire and any sort of cross near him and the opposition player wins a free header everytime. But, you cant blame Hughes for that, it's Grayson that continues to play him there. We've got Bromby who's played quite abit over his career at RB but Larry seems to stick to certain players no matter how bad they play.
Howson, how on earth does he not only keep his place in our lightweight midfield but then gets given the captaincy? Johnson is the same, never gets dropped. They simply aren't strong enough to win midfield battles and we have been crying out for someone like Faye all year. We finally got him in and he sits warming the bench while we concede goals almost every game.
The new left back McCartney gave away a stupid penalty to make it 4-4, the Preston player was going towards the corner flag and there was no danger whatsoever and he goes and hacks him down like a utter muppet. All we had to do from half time was keep players behind the ball, tighten up in midfield and at the back and the game was ours but Larry should of sorted that out.
Well done to Dave Somma, the loan spell at Lincoln has done him the world of good and now he's reaping the rewards. 6 goals already and his place in the team should be nailed on now, will also get better as the season goes on.

That was coming all game, both sides were shocking defensively throughout the 1st half. I said at half time that Ferguson would be telling his players that they would win the game if they continued playing as they were. Parkin bullied Collins and Treacy took the p1ss out of Hughes all night.

The blame lies with Grayson IMO, regardless of what he did or didn't tell his players to do at half time as manager it is his responsibility to make sure that they do the job he's asked of them and if they're not, then replace them. Why he persevered with Johnson & Howson and didn't bring Faye on at half time to shut up shop only he will know.

Laughing stock of football yet again.

Or indeed Adam Clayton. Take it from a Carlisle fan who watched him a lot last year, he's twice the player Johnson is and I'd even go as far to say he's better than Howson.

I'm twice the player Johnson is. Clayton did come on late for Howson but the game was done then, didn't really have the time to make an impact. The 2nd half was made for a player such as Faye to come on and do a job.

Should have made the Faye change at half time when it looked like Preston could get back into it, he'd have just plugged the midfield.

My world has fallen apart! First the pies on Saturday and Nob End last night - not really a good place to live at the moment!

I cant remember a United side conceeding a three goal advantage before - I can hear Don and Billy turning as I type.......

On a plus point, I suppose it has kept Ferguson junior in a job!

Interesting comment by Grayson this morning. He basically said that if he had brought a defensive midfielder on at half time the fans would have lynched him.
Saying they would have felt "I was been negative."
Now correct me if I am wrong.
But since when does a manager listen to the fans. Surely his job is to get results first and foremost. The fans will be behind him more if their team are winning and gaining promotion. Watching a 10 goal game and losing wont keep the Leeds fans too happy I am certain of that.
