I would have thought that the only reason Newman might want a move elsewhere in SL would be if he thought he had more chance of winning trophies. Who knows which side will look the best prospect a year from now?

It will be interesting to see how Sts go next season. They've still got a lot of quality players, and the WCC took a lot out of them mentally this year, but Wigan look like the team to beat at this stage.

That's a shame after how much Leeds have given him. NRL is one thing,local rival after we kept him signed through multiple bad I juries would be abit meh

A year on from now, I think I'd actually prefer it that he'd had a belting season but decided to move on than had an injury ruined one followed by us extending by another 2 or 3 years on the basis of his still unfulfilled potential.

Of course, in an ideal world...

I wouldn’t want us to break the bank over Newman, I don’t think he’s that good at this point to warrant being paid ridiculous amounts and he has to prove his fitness first. It will play out.

Given how Leeds have looked after him though his horrendous injuries, it would be a proper kick in the teeth if he decided to move to Saints.
NRL with an option to come back, I can understand.

Personally I wouldn't be too bothered if he left.
I think the bad injuries have taken their toll, he doesn't seem to have the breakaway pace that he had.
Maybe still recovering and can build his strength back, but I still think he's a massive risk as marquee.
He clearly has always had potential, but we all wince when he gets tackled and starts limping.
Main positive is that he's british and has come through the academy. Is that enough for marquee?

It is relevant they are similar in size and position and Steve's is correct he was already balled off with how he wad treated. But I'm sure Hudson will be much better.
