If this was someone trying to walk away mid-contract, I'd probably agree with GH, but the fact he wanted to change his mind just weeks after signing makes this a completely different scenario.
I've a lot of time for him and am one of those who thinks he gets little wrong in the grand scheme of things, but I think GH is making himself look an idiot taking this stance and so publicly. Would have been a much better message to just say 'Our club is bigger than any one player, and if James doesn't want to be here, then that's his loss and we'll let him go with our best wishes'.
I get the feeling GH is trying to use this situation to build some sort of public reputation, maybe trying to regain some credit after what has been a dismal 12 months.
Move on, we're better than this!
(P.s I still fully expect Segeyaro to be named a Cronulla player for an undisclosed fee in probably the first week of January)
