It does make sense if its cleared enough to bring in Hudson. No idea if we're that tight but I wouldn't underestimate the impact Ackers signing had on our cap position. He won't have been cheap and was probably not accounted for in planning. Frankly we don't know what Miller et al are on, its quite possible we are really tight now.
It might also prevent us doing a deal for Kershaw. We cannot force Olpherts to go, there's no reason he would or should accept a pay cut, and any club thinking about him would know we are trying to get rid and would want us to pay as much of his salary as possible. Just because we as fans (or the club) might want this to happen doesn't mean it will automatically.
Donaldson/Bentley seem to fit far less well as you say.
