More Rhubarb from the Rhubarb King. As you've said poor Johnstone had a very tough run with injuries (played 40 games in 4 years) but last year with his injuries behind him he scored lots of tries. Fus is perfectly capable of posting 20 plus tries for us if he plays for the majority of the season. He managed 10 in 17 this year.

I agree completely, but assuming his wages are less than previous I understand the risk.

Yep. Out of contract at the end of 2024. It's fair to say that if he doesn't manage 80/85% it's probably time to say goodbye. Fingers crossed that this time he will. As far as I know he's started pre season without injury, which is always a good sign.

For me Arthur it also meant there was one less hole to fill this off-season when we clearly had bigger fish to fry.

I’d also add (though I’m happy to be corrected) that I seem to remember him getting a couple of concussions, which often are more down to bad luck than they are being a crock or injury prone.

Agreed. He's had a bit of perfect storm over the last few years. It happens. One thing I'm sure of is that he is neither lazy or soft, which is an accusation I'm seen levelled at him.

Fusitua has played more than Newman in the last couple of seasons. I don't get why there seems to be a section of our fans that are routinely sympathetic to Newman yet seem to be out to have a go at Fusitua and bizarrely view his injuries as the fault of the player.

2023 season, Fus played 17 games and scored 10 tries
2022 season, 14 games, 5 tries

Newman 2023 - played 17 games, scored 6 (inc. one CC game)
2022 season - played 7 games, scored 4

Both played and scored more in 2023 which is a positive at least. Hopefully we'll see an upward trend.

I don't subscribe to bashing either but I'd imagine because Newman is/was on a lot less, he's relatively young, he's also club trained and doesn't take a quota spot.

There’s a bias, either conscious or unconscious, because Harry is younger and home grown.

The bottom line for me is we are better when both are on the field and we need both to be on the field more often.

I'll say this for fusitua, for a player with an injury record he doesn't shy away from the game's physical side.
