Oh, yes, don't get me wrong the timing is the issue and perhaps to an extent the seriousness of the injury has affected your view. However, had it been a normal tackle and the player got up, made a full recovery and it had been sang, would you hold the same point of view? Probably not.
Like I said, I've heard worse and probably will continue to do so. The question is now, are people becoming too petty? You're going to have start penalising every club for every player directed chant they come out with.
no im sorry, i saw the picture posted when i got home, i was as angry about it at the moment in time when we werent sure of the full extent in the ground. the guy was on the floor hardly moving for nearly a minute. me personaly, even if it was lee briers i'd still be worried for the lad if he stays down as we know rugby league lads dont stay down for no reason. please stop making excuses, you may not have been one of them but the fans that did are nothing more than pathetic cretins
I'm not making excuses, just stating how things could have changed your view. I can understand your concern: really I can and I'm certainly not negating the fact that timing and perhaps content was wrong.
I was just as worried to be honest. Everytime I see a player go down my mind goes back to Westerman in the Saints game, last year was it?
While still down they then went on to sing "senior is a nice person". finally after much time as Biffer was carried off the so called RL fans in the cas end behind the stick appluaded him. I dont say the C or the T swear words much but I did tonight. When a lad is out cold and this happens it makes me think I'd rather see wakey stay up and these mindless cretins be rid of for good. scum is too good a word to use on this lot tonight, it spoilt what should have been a very good evening.
Your own players were joining in with it and laughing their arses off. We said, (as a joke) "if you hate Keith senior clap your hands" and who joined in? Ryan Hall of all people. What a cretin that guy is! Scum of rugby league!
yes they are, the southern hemisphere commentators seem to want 'hits' to be allowed.
you can just as easily cause a nasty injury by accident whilst wrapping your arms around.
let's not forget this tackle was entirely legal, just unfortunate for luke burgess
Missed out 4 pages of reading so not sure what has been said but yes, completely fair tackle and no-one can have any complaints about it. Wish it wasn't done in last minute of game tho when the game was lost!
It's a blokes game at the end of the day and you have to accept that these things happen, and the players def do too. Gutted that the lad will miss his chance of playing at Wembley. Next year tho...
Parry Gordon's passes,Les Boyd's strong runs,Mike Gregory's workrate,Des Drummond's tries,Jonathan Davies' sheer genius...........oh,and Alan Rathbone's punches! All memories of the legendary venue which was Wilderspool stadium. Gone maybe, but never, ever forgotten.
I hope Burgess is okay and doesn't miss wembley, from a wires fan. Is it official yet that his injuries are so bad he will miss the final? Re: banter and senior in particular. Leeds fans have a "we love you senior" chant. At the game earlier in the season at the HJ,a few of us wire fans sang to him. "We love you senior, because you're old and poo,we love you senior, because we score past you..........." a few minutes later the sod went under the sticks from halfway. That's "banter" I suppose! Cas fans? Never have been and never will be my cup of tea. Mostly hostile, argumentative and aggressive, and it seems they have learned absolutely nothing after being fined for the chants at Garreth Thomas earlier in the season.

While I wholeheartedly agree with what you are saying, unfortuately at times Leeds "fans" have failed to cover themselves in glory in this respect. The Walker injury is an example of when things are as they should be. When Eastmond went down at headingley this year with what looked like a pretty serious shoulder injury there was quite a bit of anti Saints chanting in the delay. I remember being seething about it at the time as it gives our club a bad name. I guess all teams have idiots.
On reflection - I'm still not sure that tackle should be legal. I accept that might be a reaction to the injury but is that a bad thing? Surely we should be trying to limit serious injuries as much as possible. I'm not buying that the same injury occurs if the young lad has a little think about tackling him before the contact instead of just running into him. All those people who say they don't want to take big hits out of the game - you can still still deliver massive hits while wrapping your arms around the player.
My final concern is with the player, who must have felt the contact and known it was fairly serious, especially when Burgess was lying still on the floor, yet still proceeded to jump around like an idiot. A) He looked a lover for celebrating like that when his team had been battered B) He knew he'd hit him hard with his head, he knew he was lying still and motionless Completely unecessary reaction
There was nothing illegal in the tackle, Yes it was reckless, But it was within the laws of the game, And there will be no punishment to the player
As for the chants, There was nothing wrong AT ALL. Some fans need to get a grip, Its the first thing Cas had to cheer all night, And every single fan who chanted light heartedly while Luke was treated to, Applauded him off, And i know, As i checked that they did
Nobody wants to see a player badly injured, but every RL fan wants to see your players KO someone, Just not cause serious injury
Looks like he is a mess, and wont play at Wembley, Which is a massive shame, But he will come back bigger and better, And count this as one of those RL injuries,

Its the unpalatable side of the Big Daft Lads syndrome, you'll see the same behaviour in every town centre after throwing out time every weekend.

You were correct in your first para, but way off the mark in the one I've highlighted - it may be a primary reason for you to watch RL matches but I think you are in a small minority if you only go to watch one or more players be knocked unconscious.
And its not possible to cause a loss of consciousness without causing serious injury - the very act of losing consciousness is a serious injury in itself regardless of how quickly the victim recovers.

End of
You tool.
You condone what was in your words a reckless tackle which has caused serious injury.
You condone a set of morons chanting anti Leeds songs etc, while a player was down obviously seriously injured.
You think every fan wants to see opposing players knocked out.
I'm 100% sure this is not the case, I'd never wish for any player to be knocked out or badly injured in any way and I'm sure there are lots of other fans who agree.
