Bentley, despite the sin binning and probable ban, was very. good. Zak, despite all the baggage, is our best full back. Austin tried very hard but didn’t overplay. Leeming showed some nice variety and Dwyer got very little game time. We weren't fluent by a long shot, but a few green shutes I think. Harry Newman was sat very near me. He looks in tremendous nick.

Yeah Saw Newman at half time walking about, does look in good shape, hope hes back soon

I thought Bentley was really good tonight, despite the sin bin. His work rate was immense.
It was good to get the win but we were average at best. Still it was a step in the right direction.

Average is an improvement, in a few months we might reach decent…

The Green shoots, in my opinion, are that the coach appears to be allowed to make the big (unpopular) decisions, finally. Dwyer was given big minutes last week, it’s no coincidence that this week rumours came out that he’s signing for St Helens, rumours which I’d bet my mortgage on were originated by his agent. He was in the last chance saloon, I think.

Rowan wants make a name himself, become a top NRL coach. He wouldn’t have accepted the role unless he was allowed free reign.

Giving Dwyer less minutes wasn't unpopular with me. I think Smith knows his own mind, a vital attribute for any leader.

True, it was an improvement. We defended better than at Salford also, although Salford asked far more questions than Wakey.

Hardaker was solid with glimpses of that open field threat. Fus very strong ball in hand and took his try well. Leeming I thought was very good bar a few wrong decisions on their line where she should have gone to myler but ent blind to Austin.

Thought it was absolutely the right call on Dwyer. Bentley was very good, couldn’t see the binning incident from where I was but he’ll probably get banned because of form.

Austin was a genuine threat, and myler was serviceable with an above average kicking game in the second half especially I thought.

Gannon was good as usual and for someone I was unsure of at first I think O’ Connor will make it, his work rate is excellent and he can at least fit a ‘Donaldson’ role in a team.

Definitely improvement still to come but think you can see the outline of the smith blueprint. We played conditions well, and he seemed to have sorted some of Cam smiths discipline, can’t really remember him getting pinged and he might have played the full 80.

For the next game I’d put Walters in if Bentley is banned (and maybe just over bodene anyway) and Johnson in for Dwyer who I think Smith has made up his mind about.

Wakey we're very poor for the full 80 but gonna give us credit we looked up for a game tonight, great energy in defence and we looked enthusiastic in attack at times carrying strong and breaking tackles. We're not back by any means but hopefully Rohan can get us there or there abouts in his time with us. Was really good to see all our new signings who played tonight probably have there best games for us. Hardaker looked at home at full back great kick returns and was constantly organising players in defensive lind in front of him. Fusitu'a was brilliant in yardage carrying really strong and skittling a few defenders, he deserved his try. Austin again showed great effort put in some great attacking kicks and again took his try that he deserved. Bentley for me was MoM even though Hardaker got it, he might have got a sin bin which he's getting accustomed to now but hus effort in defence was outstanding also getting two vital tries in first half with some good line runner it was great to see. We get a week's rest now hopefully Smith can get his full hold on team for when we come back in June for our next fixture against Wire.

Me neither, or any rational thinker. One look at our Facebook forums would indicate otherwise though, unfortunately. Southstander seems to be the platform for the level headed, understanding-of-the-game thinker these days.
