| Quote exiledrhino="exiledrhino"I think if you're saying who it would be ideal to lose out of SL, it would have to be Salford. In a way, it's a shame they've had a decent season up to now. They don't have an academy and their stadium situation isn't ideal, and without the Koukash money, they don't seem financially viable.
Out of the likely teams to go down, it has to be Hudds. They have no fans, and the ground is rubbish. Still, at least they produce a lot of their own players, which is why I'd rather Salford went down.'"
How on Earth is the ground rubbish? You have seats (with decent legroom) plenty of facilities in the stadium, two bars literally next door, and more importantly for you this Friday given the current forecast a bleedin roof!!!!

| The downside to expansion is SL clubs taking a cut in TV revenue next year as it would be spread further. Will they do that to save Leeds or anyone else? I'm not so sure, even if that is the plan for 2021. Too many teams operate on a knife-edge to expect them all to be willing or able to lose a chunk of income at short notice.
I think p&r is a stupid indulgence for a sport with too few big teams, designed to assuage fans of a couple of mid range championship sides, whilst driving short-termism amongst all SL sides caught in the mix. All in the name of 'excitement' that a whole bunch of sports - including RU - see no need for.
But we can't bet on it being removed to save us - I think if we finish last we'll go down for a year at least. Worryingly right now without my blue and amber specs there's nothing that gives me any confidence to think we won't finish bottom except our current points difference advantage.

Good post but you forgot the best of all. Magic Rock Tap. Worth travelling to Huddersfield for even if there's no game.

| BM certainly helped run the team into the ground but...he's been gone for over a year. How can you hold him responsible for this season? If GH/KS knew the squad sucked they could have done more sooner - they finally reacted a few weeks ago which shows it was always possible.

| Cant blame McDermott. Hes not here anymore. There will collective blame if we go down and it will be a collective effort to stay up.
Let's back the team to stay up and put effort in as fans to support the team to help the team.
The South Stand, other than the last 10 mins was very quiet versus Hull and need to raise their game just like the team and management need to.
I'm still of the belief, maybe in denial, we wont go down but it's a big 6 games remaining.

| For me GH is the one who failed to make the changes needed i.e McD stayed too long & both are culpable for retaining a squad top heavy with has beens & never will bes.
That said since MC'D has left the recruitment on/off the field & Sinfield taking over as DOR havent improved things.
It was always going to be a 2 season transition minimum but imo we've wasted 18 mths with signing & retaining too much dross & Sinfield in particular has been exposed as been way our of his depth.
I dont buy this "who else was available" bs either for signing or retaining old has beens or total passengers , the Furner sacking witjout a quality replacement has been a farce as well.
I like many others dont thiink we'll go down but the rebuild needed is still 2yrs minimum wlith so much time & money already wasted.
I also feel the next off season could be defining for Sinfield if he stays he has to learn from his mistakes & build the squad going forward with a more quality , better Coaching set up with a clear path for the next batch of jnrs to progress into the 1st Team.

| Sinfield. Sacking and then not replacing Furner was a huge risk. If we go down, ultimately it's on him. I think he'll walk anyway if we do.

| Don't think anyone's blameless. Leadership and coaches have been identified, I'd also add the players to the list. Neither has the academy delivered all it should.

| You simply can not turn around the damage McDermott did through this club in 12 months, it will take another two years on top of that. People still do not get just what he did, with no player development from juniors, no succession planning, losing the dressing room by the end. In a salary capped sport this can not just change at the flick of fingers. However, Hetherington needs to also take his responsibility for allowing it and looking the other way.

| Hetherington is to blame for not changing quickly enough and taking the eye off the ball on recruitment.
BMc also is to blame for imo getting v complacent, letting Maguire go and replacing with Myler was a disgrace.
Finally Sinfield for not replacing Furner with a quality coach is unforgivable if we go down.

| Just remember 2015 ? It seems quite a few senior players seemed as if they had enough .Sinfield himself said he couldn't wait till the season ended . Even though that was the treble year the culture at the club was already in decline

| No doubt Hetherington will blame the following
The fans for not doing more
All the other staff for not doing more
Leeds city council for not doing more
Rfl For not doing more
Caddick for not doing more
British government for not doing more
The Queen for not doing more
If fact everyone else but him who has lined his own pocket with cash whilst Rome has burned around him. I mean let's face the numpties on this site defend Hetherington because he took some brave steps ten years ago but reality is the root of ALL Leeds problems are 100% down to Hetherington

| It’s never the fault of one person. You could say Hetherington is in overall charge and has to take overall responsibility but others have let the club down in recent years.

| It's interesting how few people blame the people dropping balls, not fielding kick offs, missing tackles, leaving defensive gaps for no reason. Wonder why the players get away scot free?
Whilst the squad isn't a vintage it's a damn sight better than a relegation team and we shouldn't be anywhere near this position.

| I would very clearly blame the players. If they had been putting in a full effort each game then they would be excused, but it’s clear they haven’t. Poor attitude = Poor execution.
Then you have more underlying reasons around the quality of player recruited, the quality of coaching etc.
They are all responsible, to different degrees...

That's because, had the other things been sorted correctly, those very players wouldn't be in a position to do that, either not here or developed better.

| As others have said, there are many moving parts to this.
Hetherington does ultimately take overall responsibility as the Chief Executive. I think recruitment and retention are where most of the club's issues are rooted and that is probably a combination of Hetherington and McDermott. You cannot expect Sinfield to fix an issue with legacy contracts that were signed two or three years before he arrived, and in some cases stil, have two or three years to run.
But there are undoubtedly players who haven't performed either. Some of those players were brought to the club with strong reputations and with rep honours under their belts, and they haven't lived up to that.

| Ultimately it’s down to Hetherington. McDermott got us into the mire and we were already in trouble when Sinfield arrived, but Hetherington has overseen the whole operation.
