Maybe we appear spent up because we've set cash aside to effectively offer Newman a new contract comprised of an upgrade for 2024 that extends to 2025 or beyond?

Newman will need one hell of a year to get an nrl contract on the sort of money he could get here. Hopefully 2 or 3 years here before he's proved what he can do and test himself in nrl.

I can't see any NRL club throwing big money at Newman even if he has an injury free season next year. He's one of the best centres in SL when fit, but the level of physicality and athleticism required to thrive in a NRL backline is on another level over there.

I listen to a few NRL podcasts and when they are discussing English players he is always mentioned.
He might not be a big as some of the Aussie ones ,but I think he will do very well over there.
Either that or go to the kick and cuddle and get bored,and give away penalties for in discipline.

Hopefully he will sign on at Leeds again but it is a gamble to throw big money at him.

We could do with agreeing whatever sooner rather than later but.. he is by no means the finished article yet. Having said that I can see him winning big games with the X-factor and that it what adds the value.

Difficult one to get right. Looks like Harry wants to get it done by the start of the season, which is a sensible approach from his perspective given his injury record. Not quite as clear cut for Leeds though, as ultimately his potential has yet to be realised. Saints situation with Welsby was different, as he is arguably the best English player in SL and would definitely have got an NRL gig if Saints hadn't been prepared to pay the right money. Hand on heart I hope Harry stays and goes on to prove himself a player of genuine world class.

I think Harry still needs to prove himself yet. I would hope he sees this too and has two good seasons at Leeds before considering his NRL opportunities.

I don't think anyone doubts his potential, its his ability to stay on the pitch and to peak consistently that he has yet to prove.
