There is a point but it’s not necessarily to win the fixture - this game is about development and some game time for one or two senior players.

My main concern would be our senior props getting through the game uninjured…

It's not to win the fixture but you want to be competitive and show good signs.

it's pointless for both sides. they gained nothing but a game under there belts.
a championship side against a virtual second string. always going to be one sided

It's not pointless as the first team players need the minutes and the younger players the challenge.

Nobody’s forcing anyone to go watch it and pay - it’s a friendly and has little bearing on competitive games to come.

If it gets some conditioning and contact into a few and helps some younger lads aim up then fair enough. Long as we don’t get humiliated (again)…

Discussion sounds very much like last pre season..unfortunately.

Result dosnt matter but you would hope the team we had out out today would put up a better showing than that...plenty of youngsters but still plenty of super league/championship games among the squad

I don't think that's true. Once you tip over the edge with too many kids you're going to struggle against experienced players of whatever level.

It will be telling what team and performance we put out against Hull KR. Last year a decent strength team got pumped, and it was a warning that we were really undercooked for the start of the season. A repeat of that would be far more worrying than a bunch of kids getting brushed aside by a decent Championship team.

With the players we have now, of course we are unlikely to win every game this year but we would be expecting to start well.

I am a supporter of RS but barring another injury crisis, we are all needing to see good results in this first block of five games.

Jack Smith and Fergus McCormack seem to be the emerging starlets so far this year. I have high hopes of both personally.

It was a very young side against a pretty much starting bulls side, it was literally men against boys at some stages.

Jack Smith looks ready to step up, and Fergus McCormack looks like a special talent!

Yesterday’s game will have no bearing on this season whatsoever.
