You are ten million times more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident if you are in a car than if you are sat on your sofa at home.

Some bloke from a University.
Wore a lab coat and had a massive research grant from the EU - the bloke, not the University. A University in a lab coat would just look stupid.

| Quote bewildered="bewildered"9 posts to your name, everyone is really gonna take notice of what you say.
OK so sinfield goes, we've had the best of him and we can develop a new player in that role. It wouldn't be the end of the world would it. What worries me is that all the teams in Super League will soon have to fill their squads with amateurs from the BARLA leagues as Warrington, in order to finally win something will purchase every single SL player.
As for Leeds in decline, my god 2nd place is really free-fall isn't it. I don't think Gaz H and Paul C would want a declining Rhinos. After all the massive crowds and all that money we get for winning the SL goes into making the Tykes that little bit less pap.
You know i never saw what people were moaning about when Chelsea started giving it the big licks in spending brass on players, but now i do as Warrington are just taking the p1ss. Also I believe most Warrington fans that post these stupid rumours cant actually make a intellectual guess at the salary cap.=red Do you really think Briers has taken a massive pay cut? come on. Its not the 1980's, Morris isnt your accountant, and unlike Wigan, you cant budget to be going to Wembley every year as you are cack handed now, and you will continue to be. yes TS was a very good coach at Leeds, but hasn't don't much with England and how many years on the trott did Huddersfield finish at the bottom?'"
Yes, actually as far as the salary cap goes Briers has taken a pay cut. Any club with a player who has been there for more than 10 years can reduce the salary by half upto £50k. Source RFL website

Not exactly true. A club can deduct half of a players salary up to a maximum of £50k for salary cap purposes. However, that rule applies across an entire squad, not per individual.
We at Leeds have 2 players already in that position, Sinfield and JJ-B, with Senior and Diskin to follow next season. Assuming all 4 players are still here we can still only deduct £50k, and not £200k (£50k per player).

We've only got briers for another 12 months so thats fine, the following year paul wood is eligible though I doubt he is on anywhere near £100k.

It's the amount that's restricted, not the number of players. Technically if you were only paying each player £10k per annum you could use it on 10 players.

| as far as the salary cap goes im expecting quite a few players to be leaving wire this season for example johnson to wigan and maybe even the rumours would be correct linking you lot with westwood i wouldnt want to lose westwood but if we were to get sinfield out of it then i believe ben harrison would be a great replacement for westwood would you lot be interested in westwood ?

Whatever the ins and outs at wire sinfield won't be involved in any move away from leeds and i'm surprised it's lasted this long.
Westwood was discussed in depth on here before he signed his new deal at your place.
I personally think he works very hard but is a liabillity and given our disciplinary record the last thing we need is another penalty machine.

but what you do want is some more players who work extremely hard and wear their heart on their sleaves. if we werent to get sinfield then we would really need myler as we have no half back options anymore especially with monaghan going back to his position at hooker
