Richard Edgehill ? : Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:07 am
One of my jobs over Easter is to sort out some of my old programmes and in particular, quite a quantity of A-Team Teamsheets.
I've come across one from November 1992 that has got me thinking.
In a game Vs Hull FC at Headingley on 13th November, the Leeds (No.5) winger was named as 'Richard Edgehill' . Now I know that no-one of that name has name any full first grade appearances and given the relative age, could this be the same person that then went on to play top-flight soccer with Manchester City ?
Given it was around 16 - 17 years ago and assuming that the player was in his late teens at the time, it 'could' tie in with the professional footballer's relative age (he was released by Macclesfield Town at the end of last season). It wouldn't be the first time that sporting talented people have had to make the choice, just look at Liam Botham who played top-flight professional sport at three different games.
Anyone shed any light on this ?
