Youth Development

I find it a bit disappointing and concerning Leeds only have 3 players that have made it into the England youth training squads. This compares with Wigan who have 10, St Helens 6, Warrington 5. Even Cas have more players in the squad than us with 4.

Understand your concern, however the lower level representatative squads are in no way a good indicator of future super league players.

Leeds are actually a good example of this over the years. We often matches or bettered other teams numbers in National squads at junior level, however few, if any have turned into regular, quality SL players.

The recruitment of the really talented is ok, although missed out on a fair few last couple of years, development is poor. But what Leeds have done is tie up with too many clubs and tender to favour them for recruitment. Stanningley an example, where too much is based on who you know, rather than talent.

In respect of the OP's point though, I wouldn't get overly worried, as the national academy sides have always had Lancashire bias to them, and never really changes, as I think they mainly have their get together there.

Jack Walker from the Academy should have made the England squad, can't believe he has been overlooked

That is down to injuries mate. He has had a lot of injuries that he is building through. Leeds don't want him having additional. They also have good halfs in that academy squad.

There's plenty of potential amongst our current u19's & u16's wrt u15's i don't know.
Morley is an interesting appointnent because he doesn't come across as a Mc.D yes man like Plume so time will tell how many come through.
Saying all that i have zero faith in our current 1st team Coaching set up developing these promising youngsters.

Young Jack Broadbent should have had a call up to U16s along with Tommy the Tank.
