Watching Maloney this year I'd be worried about giving him a long-term deal. He looks a shadow of himself from last season. I know the whole Panthers team aren't going well but he really isn't doing much.

Brisbane any other worthwhile NRL targets for us at six?

There aren't many real standouts beyond the obvious top couple of players (Keary, Walker, Munster, Morgan). There's probably a shortage of highest quality 6s at the moment, but there are plenty who could do a job.

Looking at what we need whether 6 or 7 is an organiser and kicker. Reynolds and Cronk are the best at those basics. After them I'm not sure - there are plenty of flaky playmakers here ATM like Milford, Nikorima, Johnson, Ash Taylor, all of whom can win games singlehandedly or disappear without trace. Maloney is better than that but its hard to tell whether he's just out of form or whether age is catching up with him.

If this were to be true then we must have a hooker coming in as we would be left with Dwyer and the academy lad which doesn't feel like a good place.

Well, either we are planning to do just that but waiting to finalise Parcell exit before Dwyer is secured, or both hookers are going with a new one coming in I guess.

For me the priority is someone who is skilful, can distribute and is very solid in D. Our passing from the ruck and one out is often sloppy IMO. We need someone physical in there, not just a scooter.

You mean someone like Paul Aiton was? I can see that being a useful addition.

TBH though I would be happy enough with Parcell and Dwyer again next year as hooker is far from our problem position at the moment. Of course if a great option were to become available (no idea who) then we should rightly look at it.

When Cameron King initially joined Fev Rovers it was rumoured at the time that his form and performances would be closely monitored by the Rhinos with a view to a possible transfer to the club for 2020.

I'm not sure if there is any truth in this though?

It was definitely part of the plan. But I believe he was a Furner wish list, so not sure what happens there now.

I'd slightly disagree with that actually. I think a number of our problems are around the hooking position. With the ball, both Parcell and Dwyer are difficult to play off, because they both scoot so much (in Dwyer's case I honestly think even he doesn't know when he's going to do it until he has). It looks exciting at the time, but can seriously disrupt the rest of an offensive set. In defence neither of them are really secure, and if we get broken down the middle as has happened a lot this year, it's then a hell of a job to defend yardage and therefore your line.

Hooker is actually one of our major issues, but both players we use look "fancy" when they are making breaks.
