Dont know if its just me but I think we need a whole raft of new songs in the South Stand. Also the atmosphere is not there this year for sm reason. Could it be because some Southstanders have taken to the other stands while the work is going on. Thought it might be coz of poor performances on the field but we were still the best supported in 2016 when we were in a similar position and tje atmos was amazing. How do we go about getting new songs? Never thpught we would be out sung especially at home, but it has happened at least twice this year. The band has kept us gping this year they have worked hard this year. If it wasnt for them we would have been very quiet.

The band have been more annoying this season than all the past years they've been here. Appalling. Constantly playing All Leeds Aren't We over and over, even when no one is singing.

Atmosphere has gone, it won't be back, accept it and move on.

All you can hear from the Western Terrace is the band (and the away fans on the WT obviously). The days of the SS having a raucous party atmosphere are long gone. It was basically a big pub with the best big screen in the world for a lot of people. Nowadays you might as well go to the pub with a big screen. If you want an atmosphere, go to Elland Road. Seen plenty of old Southstanders in the cheese wedge this season

Agree with the OP that 2016 had some belting nights in the SS. Wigan was like a bear pit. Great memories

That was my point. About the band. No one was singing and if the band hadnt have been playing it would have been like watching it on a big screen in a library.
May be you are right, may be the atmosphere is not as important to the crowd anymore. I do know that it is important to the players. I am too old to be leading songs etc. But being part of the south stand is something I cherish and that the reputation of the south stand as a daunting place to play in front of for the opposition is something that should be upheld. I just dont know how.

I think that even with the same numbers of people making the same amount of noise as before it won't be the SS of old (they should change the name really) if only because of the roof. I've not been in, so I can't tell if there is any kind of atmosphere in there, but from elsewhere in the ground it seems as if no noise (other than the band) carries from the terrace. It's a shame because I used to bring non RL fans in on a Friday night to sample the atmosphere. Doubt I'll be doing that again!

I guess it could be with the utter garbagr being served up on the pitch, the Southstanders don't have a lot to sing about.

Perhaps once it's fully open it'll change? Small chance I know.

I think it needs abit of social media presence. Like they did when the Kop at Elland Road went silent. All the singers got together and moved into the South Stand, created a movement, created new songs and most importantly - created an atmosphere.

There has been a reduced capacity and rubbish on the pitch. The atmosphere will always suffer.

Some on here will have you believe that the atmosphere has gone forever now the club have dared to offer seating in the sacred SS.

Don't believe the BS. Once the stand is fully open and the team are playing some decent stuff the atmosphere will come back. Only it will be in nicer surroundings with the added bonus that people who can't/don't want to stand for hours can also feel part of it.

Let's hope the improvement on the pitch is sooner rather than later mind.

I fear for the atmosphere with such a high roof. Hope I’m wrong but I think the days of taking non RL friends knowing that they’ll love the atmosphere may be gone and Headingley may be just another ground with good corporate hospitality.

There’s a load of displaced southstanders elsewhere in the ground. Once the stand is fully open and hopefully the standard on the pitch improves it’ll be better.
