I always look to the stats after, and I have a particular draw to missed tackles, because it tells a lot about a team. I think last night was Leeds lowest of the season, although still a poor 21 misses. Salford missed a ridiculous 39 tackles, that is poor. More alarming there is that despite this, and despite our dominance as a result, we still had to rely on a lucky last minute penalty to scrape the win.
Our defending has been poor all season, but this IMO, is a direct result of what we do when we have the ball, and our whole attack is just not good enough.
I see the post about Sutcliffe, and this apologist mentality for him all the time gets repetitive. It was actually already stated he won us the game, and that is not in doubt, he produced the two moments that mattered, and deserved the credit. But the rest of the game he bombed so much for us, and contributed 3 missed tackles, and four errors. Those were important faults, and exactly why it gets mentioned. You can’t just turn up for two minutes a game. Luke Briscoe was also critisized for the same reason, but his position is far less important to the team.
I think it says a lot about how poop this Leeds team is that you only just managed to scrape a win against a Salford team that can only play with Hastings in it. Not forgetting, Sa'u, Nakubuwei, Burgess & Mossop were all missing and we started with Ryan Lannon at prop and bombed 2 or 3 tries in the last 15-20 minutes.
If we're going to struggle, god forbid how the mighty Leeds will cope without Joel Moon and James Child playing for you every week next season.

Wonder if Richie Myler is embarrassed about his antics this morning having just seen a clip of your last minute penalty.....?
And opposition fans wonder why it's so hard to get a result at Headingley after being shafted 2 seasons in a row by forward passes and inept refereeing.
Not that I'd expect any Leeds fan to admit we were cheated as along with Wiganers you're the most blinkered fans in rugby league.

Think we've had more than our fair share of bad luck this year by a long way. But the best team on the night won. We would have been robbed with only a point
I have to say in my opinion tho it was a pretty terrible call by Child at that point of the game. Yes the Salford player knocked the ball out but it was in making the tackle and not in an act of stealing the ball. We certainly got one there.
Terrible game tho, both teams were embarrassing to be honest.
Thought Crosby and Briscoe did well but really some of the attacking play was....well worse than junior rugby. My God an organising 6 and a tackle breaking forward or 2 are essential for next year.
Some hard work ahead to rebuild for next season as we all know. Surviving was the aim and that's virtually done now if not already achieved.
2 more games to suffer folks and let's see what off season brings.
Not as embarrassed as Ian Watson should be after that interview.
Think his dummy almost reached Salford it was spat that far.
I think what Watson said was spot on correct. What he failed to mention was the number of times this went in favour of Salford in that second half, which would have made the two incidents he spoke about completely irrelevant, had they been pulled properly.
As for Myler, I really think the club should be sending a legal letter to sky and Carney for the ridiculous comments made there. That really was bang out of order and over stepped the mark. He should be publically apologising for that, especially considering all he saw was highlights, and then actually got the ruling wrong. To think it was bloody Phil Clark who was the voice of reason.
I would deffinatly sign Crosby up longer term, he's a good super league prop, english, only 27 and got big game experience, he's a lot better than Mullally imo. Think this season has shown you need 6 first team props in the squad, Garbutt, Singleton, Peteru, Crosby, Oledzki and a good quality new signing would put us in good shape for nxt season .
