I'm very surprised, but I guess something had to give. Phil Gould a while ago said that it just sometimes reaches a point when players stop playing and its them or the coach. Its happened quickly this time, but you wonder if the same thing was happening under BM as well.
Now the onus is well and truly on the players. We've been terrible for almost two full years, and 3 out of the last 4, with a chunk of the squad here over the whole period.
That means only one of two things - either the players that are playing badly are genuinely not good enough, or they simply haven't been putting in the effort. Regardless of which is the answer to that one any players in either camp need to be got rid of over time - we don't want sub-par players and we definitely do not want players who only play when they want to.
How the team plays in the near future will tell us a lot about which camp some of our apparent duffers are in.
