Well that's working out well isn't it? Zero from 2 so far.

To be fair he's really inherited a basket case, but if we keep getting beaten the pressure will be on to do something more than hope he can turn it around. If we lose to London can you see him being given many more games to sort things out?

I have nothing against agar but he's clearly a cheap option.

I don't understand why when we are constrained by the salary cap why we wouldn't go all out to get the best coach we can to turn this shambles around.

I think if we'd have been going for a short term appointment Kear would have been a better option. Not a great coach, but he'd at least be able to motivate the team. Agar hasn't raised the performances at all so far

It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.

Re: Agar Out : Fri May 17, 2019 6:47 am
Just watched the post match interview with Agar on the YEP site, and it's clear he's not in this for the long run. The sacking of Furner seems to have been down to an individual matter between him and Sinfield, which I suspect (but don't know) was about the relative strengths of the playing squad. To sack him, for what might well have been simply telling the truth, seems even more stupid now than it did then.

Not having a long term replacement lined up shows naivety on Sinfield's behalf, he's behaving like a dictator at the moment, and that's unlikely to get the best out of a punch of average players, with little confidence. We are in a hole.

We urgently need to find a coach and halfback who can between them steer us around the park and give us a kicking game, which in all honestly I don't think Leeds have ever had in my 40 or so years of watching us.We haven't needed it before because we could defend and had some brilliance in us which would always lead to points, but now without either of those things, it's mission critical for us.

I'm still not sure we've reached the bottom yet...

Something's obviously led to Furners sacking and it cant be just team results and performances ,but he must have had reassurances about being given time during the negotiations when they came for him. There must have been a Hell of a bust up between the coach and the DOR

Naivety beyond belief..I'm starting to lose faith in sinfield very quickly after this.

I feel sorry for Agar, and hope he isn’t just the next scape goat. He came here to do a job, has said he doesn’t want a first team coach job, is doing a favour for the club, and shouldn’t be held responsible for the mess. A mess in place years before he even came.

Agreed and I think he has come across well every time I’ve seen him

Agar is going nowhere, I have had that information from two directors. I was told that they are taking their time making sure that the next appointment will be the right appointment for the club. They are happy with Agar and commented that he is a respected coach in SL. After the game last night GH commented that the changes that Agar is making will need some time to come through and be reflected in the way we play, last night even though we was well beaten at times we were playing better, fingers crossed we will see a better team going forward.

Re: Agar Out : Fri May 17, 2019 10:11 am
Time could well be a problem for GH. I don't think anyone expects Agar to be the long term solution, especially not Agar himself, but if it takes us 6 weeks to get some forward motion with the changes he makes, we are then really up against it to pull clear of trouble.

I still didn't see many players busting a gut to put things right, it's like they don't really care what happens next. The forwards are so passive, and our goal line defence shows such little pride, it takes a long time to fix these things because many are inherent in the players and if you don't change them, you don't change the problems.

GH has made such a mess over the last few years, blaming Furner, Sinfield or Agar (in time) will be folly. The heart of our issues has been our recruitment (at all levels, not just players) for many years, I find it hard to believe that we are spending a full cap on the players we have in the squad right now, someone has made some really fundamental mistakes on a scale previously seen at Elland Road with the Bradley Johnson debacle etc.

It's a long road out from here, and will require very careful detailed planning along with a fairly large amount of cash.
