What might be worth doing, even if it causes guffaws all round, is have a look at any halfbacks in the Championship who can kick and organise. They don't have to be stars, but it looks like we're putting all our eggs into the basket of getting a halfback from somewhere (if Maloney was the target he'll most likely see out the rest of Origin unless NSW lose game 2 this weekend). When you watch Leeds there's no sense of control, or who is supposed to be in charge when we have the ball. Compared to Myler/Sutcliffe there must be some Championship/reserve SL halfbacks who at least know what to do on the last tackle or how to compose a set of 6?

I agree fully with this, look at Championship. I genuinely think seven, as long as Sutcliffe isn’t six, is a bigger problem for us currently. There is two or three really good organising sevens down there that could work. If it is six, then what about our Fev tie up? Chisholm looks pure class compared to what we have. And although I thought daft at the time, I don’t think Schofield was far wrong on his Murrell comment. Of course unless a promising player, it should only be an end of season move. But do reckon Chisholm and McClelland could be a good formula. What happened with that quality Widnes half that came in back end of last season?

Gareth Ellis has come out of retirement and playing again for Hull, he is the same age as Sir Kev.

Championship half backs I like the look of are Jonathan Ford at Toulouse and Connor Robinson at York. But I’m convinced we’re signing Jackson Hastings for 2020, we just need to retain our Super League place.

Sinfield hasn't played competitive pro sport for almost 4 years. Ellis was playing last year. The last halfback I remember trying to come back - younger than Sinfield is now and after just 1 year out - was John Holmes in 86-87. That was sad, because what little speed he had when he had retired had gone completely. I shudder to think how slow Sinfield would be now given Holmes would have been quicker at his peak.

Gotcha - I'd genuinely have a look at a couple of the names you mention on loan for a month. Even if we do get Hastings/Maloney at some stage, we're 1 injury from where we are now, and that is just horrific to contemplate in a pressurised end of season. They've got no composure even when we're leading by 20 points. I couldn't care less if they're never going to be long-term signings, all that matters is fixing us now.

Ellis retired in 2017 and returned in 2019. Did not play in 2018.

Its not panic its sensible recruitment. Kr and London are pushing and we have no room for manoeuvre or complacency. More importantly we're running out of games to kick away.

Exactly, look at the impact Ellis has had, and Sinfield retired in 2016.

Is Sinfield coming out of retirement ideal? No, but when you are joint bottom of the league have no decent half backs and no kicking game, I genuinely think he would improve our side.

I wasn't panicking Marty, I have been clear on that. I also had the same opinion as you when Schofield said it, but now I actually think he wasn't so stupid. Murrell would have far more positive influence on this team that Sutcliffe could manage.

More and more I think about it though, I would actually seriously consider the Dane Chisolm move, simply for a month. We bring him in next week, and I would back us to beat Catalans, Cas, Hull KR, and Hull. Then we start planning on next year with room to breathe.
