Get your head out of the sand, we are no better than London and Hull kr this year and certainly can’t match their commitment and desire to win.

But you predicted us to win the competition about 6 weeks ago!

I didn’t, I said if we won we’d still be in with a chance of a playoff spot. Anyone in the playoffs can win the competition, we’ve shown that in the past. London by the way are now 4 points from the playoffs.

I don't buy the 9 out of 10 scenario either. Our lack of a decent halfback is the worst problem of all to have. Without control when the pressure is on we're far more likely to panic as a unit than if we had someone taking charge on the field. We'll also continue to lose games like Wigan where we might be doing Ok in terms of field position but our complete lack of kicking game and inability to set up tries/maintain pressure through a good kicking game.

Our defence has improved in the sense we're not letting teams just push over from acting half, but Wakefield in the mud apart we're still letting in too many points as well. For our defence to win games we need to up that a level as well.

Everything you say is correct Brisbane but we could have Wally Lewis and Peter Sterling as half backs but if they stand at 1st receiver with the greatest play in RL history ready to go and Dwyer runs off 20 yards sideways right past them like a headless chicken it is no use at all.

The halves are getting plenty of stick on here and I totally agree with everyone that they are not good enough but they have no idea if or when they are going to get the ball and that makes a halves job absolutely impossible.

Hastings Maloney Gale will be no good for Leeds until we sign a top class number 9 to give them the ball when and where they need it.

I know what you're saying, but a class halfback would demand the ball from the hooker, not just stand around like a kid in U9s waiting to get the pass. I doubt any of our existing halfbacks have the confidence to scream for the ball and yell at the hooker if needs be. Most of the time they look like they'd rather anyone else take the ball at first receiver.

You think Dwyer would listen? Hes the rugby brain of a small rodent mate. Demand all you like but the headless chicken would do his own thing.

They have kicking games we can only dream of. Would not back us in a relegation decider against either right now.

Against Wigan, Myler has plenty of chances to put decent last plays on and totally fluffed it. Sutcliffe also blew a few chances to build pressure.

I agree that the interaction with dummy half needs to be better too, but I’m certain we’re losing critical games that we would win with better half backs.

What you looking at?....Butt Head!!

Re: Desperate times desperate measures : Fri Jun 21, 2019 6:53 am
Was it Myler or Sutcliffe who kicked it into the middle row of the north stand on the last tackle near the end against Wigan? Under no pressure any decent half would have been putting it on a sixpence for his winger. That sums up the level we are dealing with at the minute simply far from good enough.
