If we do get relegated at least it will give us a chance to release all the deadwood in one go

Are contracts dependent on us being in Super League? Honestly don't know.
We'd lose a huge wedge in Sky money, and have everyone and his dog circling around the best players we have remaining and our juniors.
Might be a windfall for SMTM but there is no guarantee we'd be back in SL soon.
I reckon 80% of the necessary player changes will have happened by the end of this year anyway, we don't need relegation to help it on its way. If we still have a couple of hanger-on I can live with that.

SL clauses are probably standard and generally suit both clubs and players.

Any attempt to suggest being relegated somehow has a bright side is ridiculous compared to the negatives. Make no mistake, if we get relegated it will damage the club. We might survive better than others, but not without some major costs, and we might well lose players we really want to keep. Can anyone guarantee we'll lose Golding, Cuthbertson etc and not Walker and Newman if they're free to talk to other clubs?

This myth on the contracts is getting silly now. I thought Leigh confirmed all this the other year. Contracts are not null and void on relegation. They are only null and void if the club goes part time from full time.

Unless there is a clause in the contract that the player can leave, then you are stuck with them if they don’t want to go, or payed off fully. If you go part time, then you are really finished. Only the good players will really want to get out of their contracts and leave willingly.

There is not one single positive thing about being relegated, not one.

They way its going it may be the ONLY thing that makes the penny drop that those in charge of recruitment have failed the Club & i include GH.
The fact we are 11th & still dont have a settled squad/Coaching staff with only 11 games left is a complete & utter shambles no ifs buts or maybes.
You're only as good as your last game etc/season & whilst some improvement has been made in effort & desire (that should be a given) we're in a genuine relegation dog fight.
If we pull through id rip the whole 1st Team organisation apart & re-build from scratch in fact those plans should already be in place imo & they shouldnt include ANY of the current staff.
