Edwards will be 32 before the end of the season, I'm not sure it is much of a worthwhile signing at this stage of his career.
Unless we sign a worldy I really wouldn't look to recruit in the back row. We have some great talent there now, and one or two others looking to come through.
Hate to say it but I hope we're not looking for ANY signing and there just happen to be more backrowers on the market - we need to be like the scalpel now and be specific about who we bring in, or else don't bother. I suspect the club does feel under some pressure to deliver signings and spend up to cap for the fan base but I'd rather we didn't if it's not going to take us forward.
Any senior player we bring in now blocks a pathway for a junior, and we have a batch of juniors almost baked now. I know not all of them will become Oldeskis but look what he's done - academy international to full international in a few years. There are more like him in our system if we just give them the opportunity to develop. The bond the lads will develop in playing through adversity together as they learn, will be a foundation for this club's success.
It's obvious we need a six. Beyond that, maybe a high quality full back who can cover wing. I don't honestly see the need for anyone else for next year. Let the young players play - 2022 is their year to take point with support from a handful of experienced and high quality players.
