If he didn't take up a quota spot it would be an ok signing. On paper though it's poor. I agree we have a lot of hard workers and not many people who have impact.
I guess the thing is that these days RL is 95% hard work, and impact is far less prevalent. The game is all about graft these days, and is worse for it in my opinion. But in those circumstances, you need a lot of grafters from 1-13. A maverick who pounds something off 1 in 4 times, and names a mistake the other 3 have no place in the game these days. Look at the criticism of Koni, who is probably our main impact player.
Finally, I think we can't over play the squad culture element to it. If he's popular with the players and bits into the culture, then that is bigger than whether he's a superstar. We've had superstars over before, and very few of the worked out.
Still, it doesn't feel like a player will change much for us next season
