Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand Workin' in the dark against your fellow man But as sure as God made black and white What's down in the dark will be brought to the light
Certainly at the start of the outbreak you want to be more tooled up protection wise, now though a few years in the zombies are a manageable threat it's the other survivors who are the bigger danger
You would only need armour type protection for particlar circumstances.
YOu actually need to be able to move quickly in most cases so armour would be a real hindrance. Having 10 Zombies sat on you trying to chew through chain mail might give you some protection would be uncomfortable.
However you are right you would not want to walking around in shorts and t shirts they offer no protectionn against infections and with a lack of antibiotics that would be a problem

After reading your comment yesterday it got me and couple of fellow WD fans at work talking about what protection would be best
What was the outcome? I have decided that i would find the nearest police station and dress in the riot gear. That way I have the protection I need and very little loss of mobility. I will not be walking around in hotpants and a teeny weeny t-shirt

See ''The Battle Of Yonkers'' in World War Z (book), US army dressed in full-on HAZMAT suits, as some sort of show of force, to show the American people that the military was in control of the situation, suits which were so impractical to the situation that they proved a major downfall. They really should have tried to get that battle into the film, it would have been so good.

Not read the book (didn't realise there was one but it's on the to read list now!) but I assume the zombies are similar to how they are portrayed in the film. Against these there is very little you can do the move and swarm so fast in the walking dead they are easier to deal with. The people are the issue in the walking dead!
Anyway most have arrived at terminus now, and it's supposed to be a big end of season finale. Looking forward to it
No, the zombies are walking zombies in the book, I'd imagine they're fast in the film for the film's sake. I've not seen the film yet, I'm not sure I'll ever bother either, from what I've seen review-wise it's terrible. watch "Honest Trailers: World War Z" on that video website.

I'm a fan of the book - it was cleverly done and rather than a straightforward narrative, I enjoyed the way the story was told through different accounts.
I had low expectations of the film and if you watch it expecting a re-telling of the book, you'll be disappointed; as a stand-alone story though, it's not bad at all. I'd give it 6/10.
Personally, I don't really approve of fast zombies; vampires are fast, zombies are slow.

Not read the book, thought the film was ok about right 6 or 6 1/2 out of 10.
Have to wait another 7 months now for season 5 of the walking dead. Think most of the second half of season 4 was building the story for season 5.
