Chappie

6/10
Enjoyable twist on the idea of AI becoming sentient.
A bit of a modern day mash up of iRobot and Short Circuit with a dusting of Robocop.

Should really have been a kids movie but too much unnecessary swearing gave it a more adult rating. More of a Sunday afternoon TV movie than a cinema outing

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?

Godzilla - a total and utter steaming turd of a movie; and to add insult to injury, they dragged it out to two hours, neither of which I will ever get back. A dreadful 2/10

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

Three Oscar winners ...
The Theory of Everything .... love life and potted history of Stephen Hawking.
Eddie Redmayne IS Hawking minus the bottom set of sticky out teeth. Great acting. 8/10

Birdman ...Ex-Superhero in films tries his hand at acting/directing ... to the accompaniment of almost ever present drumming for effect and presumably to portray his inner turmoil.
The end is querky, but explainable if you think about it.
Won't spoil it. 9/10

Still Alice ... Alice develops Alzheimers and then it's her and her family's struggle.
Great acting. 9/10

Agree totally. A complete and utter waste of the beautiful Elizabeth Olsen and the awesome dude who played Walter White. I might be a bit weird, but I was still routing for Walter White even till the end of Breaking Bad, no matter what depraved things he was doing. But in Godzilla he's the guy trying to warn everyone of impending doom and I couldn't care less about him. "It's going to send us back to the Stone Age" - just shut up and get killed already.

Edge of Tommorrow starring Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton and Brendan Gleeson.

Cruise plays Major William Cage, a public relations officer inexperienced in combat, is forced by his superiors to join a landing operation against the aliens. Though Cage is killed in combat, he finds himself in a time loop that sends him back to the day preceding the battle every time he dies. Cage teams up with Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt) to improve his fighting skills through the repeated days, seeking a way to defeat the extraterrestrial invaders.

So - "Groundhog Day" mixed with "Saving Private Ryan" and a bit of "Aliens". Quite liked it though - just for the effects - the story line is totally potty.

I was always on the WW bandwagon! His family really got on my nerves towards the end. especially his wife with the ridiculous name.

As for Godzilla, it's worrying that that director will be directing Star Wars! :?

JJ Abrams is directing Star Wars, and he didn't direct Godzilla

Gareth Edwards is directing Star Wars: Rouge one which is seperate from the upcoming trilogy IIRC.

Wild Tales, Argentinian portmanteau comedy. Very funny.Totally bizarre coincidence, which has received quite some publicity, of the first segment of the film depicting a air-liner full of passengers being deliberately crashed (treated as a black comedy, natch). After the recent tragic events that's just unfortunate; naturally the film was made long before the tragedy.

Anyway, as I say, very funny black comedy: recommended.
