Age of Ultron 8.5

Some amazing action scenes and genuine comedy while there's a bit more character interaction which is handled well.

Would have liked Ultron to have been a bit more sinister, cold and ruthless and to have had a better explanation of The Visions abilities

Didn't rate it that highly, give it a 6 at best.

The story was a mess, not enough explanation of what's going on with regards to Ultron, etc. Sure, if you're a Marvel devotee you might like it but for everyone else it's all over the place. CGI was terrible in parts - one early scene with Hulk & Black Widow sticks in the memory where the Hulk was SciFi Channel standard CGI, and a few with the Avengers' aircraft (whatever it's called).

The usual amounts of cheese, one-liners and humour, and bucketloads of mind-bogglingly quick action (some of it so fast you can't really see what's going on, when is Hollywood going to realise that speed isn't everything in fight scenes? - a mistake George Lucas made) but if you've seen Assemble it doesn't really develop much from there. It's a decent action film if you don't think about it too much.

Agree with that. The 2 most obvious examples being the Star Wars episodes 1-3 (spit) and the Transformers films. Half the time you really don't know what's going on, who's shooting at who etc. It just turns it into a big mess and you end up not caring what's happening.

As well as genuinely being more entertaining than Eps 1-3 (spit), they hit the nail on the head regarding the fight scenes. For example, the Luke-Vader fight scene in Jedi wasn't any less dramatic or gripping for lack of highly choreographed mid-air acrobatics and spinning lightsabers, it was gripping because Luke was good and Vader was evil; their relationship was complex and intertwined with others around them, the stakes were high and we genuinely cared about them.

Fast and Furious 7 0/10

Load of rubbish. The fight sequences and chase sequences are poorly choreographed and shot transitions are terrible. Poor character storyline and dialogue, and Jason Statham's character is a massive joke, a Mickey Mouse villain. Hopefully this is the end of one of the most terrible and overrated film franchises.
