Shame - a relentlessly bleak and uncomfortable watch. Beautifully shot and acted, and a stellar performance from Michael Fassbender's impressive schlong. Nonetheless, difficult to recommend.

The Man with the Iron Fists - pure, unadulterated, unapologetic claptrap, from start to finish; somewhat excused by the chop-socky, exploitation vibe, but don't be fooled by the 'Introduced by Quentin Tarantino' bit - it's not cool in any way, shape or form.

Redeemed only by the stunning Lucy Lui and the scene in which a man has one of his two eyeballs kicked out, which I liked.

Filth-9.5 excellent, funny and entertaining despite subject matter. Based on story by the guy who wrote Trainspotting.

Frost/Nixon - another great impression by the bloke who did Cloughy and Blair and a great turn by Frank Langella; compelling stuff, despite it being essentially a film about two blokes talking.

Metallica - Through The Never : Very enjoyable for me especially the concert footage. In fact is should have been a full concert anyway instead of a roadie being sent to get something for the band but you never find out what it is.

Ender's Game - an awful, misshapen, ugly mess of a movie, in which all the interesting bits of Orson Scott Card's novel have been inexplicably cast aside; the acting is dire, the CGI is poor and the space battles are just dull.

2/10 - don't bother.

Cloverfield - 2/10 and that is being kind.

No back story other than the main character being in love with a friend and vice versa, and neither of them have told each other. Then the guys search for the girl on the back of a seemingly pointless and irrelevant alien attack on New York to tell her he loves her. Cack!
