Free Solo.

Stunning.

Sweaty palms and nausea for the last twenty minutes. Amazing cinematography.

Captain Marvel - after the pace and frenetic activity of the recent Marvel fare, this was a strange one; you almost feel short-changed that there's only one super in action, and whilst I get that it's setting up the whole Endgame chapter, it just didn't excite me in the way some of the others have - the story was a bit dull and dragged out too long, and the 90's references became clunky and obvious after a while.

Really well made though, which is what you would expect, and good that it's an empowered female-led movie - 7/10

A Simple Favour - outstanding film noir, with a modern spin; mumsy Anna Kendrick and vampy Blake Lively as the leads are both brilliant, in a film with more twists, nasty moments and laugh out loud set-pieces than should really be allowed. Not saying too much about the plot as I don't want to ruin it for anyone - but this is well worth a watch if you like slightly left-field, twisty-turny, murdery, crimey kind of deals.

Excellent - 9/10.

Endgame

Well put together, emotionally engaging as well as a good laugh.

Has a big plot hole for me, but despite that I still enjoyed. The easiest 3 hrs I've ever spent at the cinema.

Stan & Ollie

It just doesn't reflect the finest comedy duo all of all time.

2/10

Here is just a clip of the real L&H in classic comedy action. :D

Avengers Endgame - I was full of expectations, that just weren't met; it felt a lot of the time like a self-regarding eulogy to this phase of the MCU, which managed to steadfastly avoid all the things that made the best instalments, the most fun. It was morbid, depressing, lacking in 'super' incidents and decidedly downbeat - whilst some of the best films in the series thus far have been the ones that didn't take themselves too seriously.

Top tip - if, like me, you've become accustomed to sitting through 20 minutes of credits for the post-credits teaser - don't, because there isn't one; it's just a bloody trailer for the new Spiderman film.

Finally watched Mad Max Fury Road! While the effects, vehicles, props and score make for an incredible audio-visual experience, the film itself just didn't do anything for me. It's all a bit Hollywood showbiz. Give me the low-budget rawness of the first two films any day. One observation - it's a good job Tom Hardy wasn't getting paid by the word, he'd have been lucky to have made 20 quid.

4/10
