Worst game Gidley ever had for us was the WCC game against the Bronco's, he mus thave given 5 penalties away on his own, he looked otu of sorts and hadnt a clue how we played etc etc... other than that one game he has been rather good and showed he can play on for longer than Darren Smith .

how can he be when Lyon had more aspects to his game. There is no matter of opinion here, that is factually incorrect.

No way! Gidley is a good defender but Lyon is as good in defence as any centre in world rugby.

Lyon was a good tackler but used to come out of the line unnecessarily on occasion. Gidley is the more positionally savvy defender of the two.

perhaps.
However Lyon completed a greater percentage of his attempted tackles, was pretty good at fielding kicks (high, low or behind him). Id say he's at least as good as Gidley defensively even if Gidley had the upper hand in positioning.
