I understand it is all part of the modern match day experience these days, and keeps Stew on the PA in a job, but there is something to me about a raft of noise from the fans that is better than (barely) hearing the Fratellis.

Blobby mentioned the roar of "Come on you Saints" on the 97 cup game video. You just don't get that after scoring a try. All attempts to start a chant are drowned out by the PA system.

I do agree Dave but you are slightly contradicting yourself that you get drowned out by a sound you can barely hear.

I remember when i first started going circa 1993/4 etc.. and since then i've witness the lows the highs and the inbetweens and crowds and atmospheres have followed suit... but over the last few years the number of times the atmosphere has had the hairs on my neck up has reduced dramatically

Well, the point is relative. You can barely hear the PA in some sections, in other, it is deafening.
