Remember when Millward sent that team out at Bradford? : Sat Jun 13, 2009 9:49 am
Back in the day and we were stuffed with our reserves/fringe players?
How things change now. That day Joynt, Gleeson, Jonkers, Bibey and Feanuati started who you would regard as regulars. The likes of Gardner, Wilkin,Roby and Graham also played but for the purpose of this, they can be classed as the Lomax, Wheeler and Ashursts of today.
So we're allowed 5 regulars, none of whom play in a pivotal position.
Lets have a go.
Armstrong
Foster
Gidley (for Gleeson)
Dean
Meil (For Feanuati)
Lomax
Eastmond
Graham (for Jonkers)
Wheeler
Emmitt
Ashurst
Dixon
Wilkin (for Joynt)
Fa'asavualu (For Bibey)
Frodsham
Yates
Bostock (who played that day)
I suppose the point I'm trying to make is that if Potter decided to do a Millward we would be far better eqipped to deal with it now with the kids we are bringing through. The bench isn't brilliant granted but if you compare it to the team we put out in 2004 with our young uns, it's a mile away in terms of class.
Put it one way, I'd fancy that team to finish comfortably mid table in SL this season.
