Not as annoying as watching England having to play a team that should have just gone to the pub instead. It was painful to see and I can't think of a single positive to come out of it. Not even our so-called wonderful tries because against the Aussies they woule not have been scored. We need a competitive match to prepare us but there isn't one to be had so I suppose we will go into the Four Nations (which should be Three Nations as France will get pickled) just as blind and unprepared as last time. Ho-hum. Let's hope when we do so that the players will actually want to turn up and win. That would be an improvement on last year anyway.

Yes, but its cheaper to go to France than cross the Pacific. And we are trying to help the French game develop.

Are we? If so then that should be clearly stated, which it has not been. The match was pitched as a mid season international to give our 'young stars of the future' a go at 'international level' rugby (ha!). The RFL and/or Sky should be more open and honest if the real motivation behind this match was to showcase a potential team for England and/or give the French something to work towards. It should not have been pitched in the way that it was if it was something else.

if that is the case it is clearly not working. it should'nt be upto us to help them we should be looking after ourselves after our terrible performence in the WC!

But at least Gateshead had the whatever to nick the ball off us five times and give their fans something to get excited about! Even if they only scored once. There was less to cheer about for the French in the match yesterday.
