Kicking goals isnt that hard. Consistency comes with practice. Ive always wondered why more players dont kick. It seems like an after thought at saints.

ive always wondered why young players dont practice it more, it would give them something "extra" to get them into the team and make them more indispensible.

Very good point from Muggers. Why give the kicking duties to a mucker with a not so clever knee ? I guess Wello is the best we had out at Leed's when it came to kicking, and if we lost him through the game it would have resulted in Gidley stepping up ?

We already have an example of what happens when players are forced into kicking duties whilst injured:

Sculthorpe.

It took at least a year off his career.

But it raises the point that we need to have his succession sorted. If Lomax or Eastmond is going to step into his shoes they need to be playing regularly now, giving Wello the rest he needs or the chance to have surgery. If that means we lose a league game or three, does it really matter? It would help if we had the info about the surgery required in order to judge this. Will he be out for a week, a month, 3 months, 6 months??

think Potter said he would miss 2 or 3 games after his op. Was in one of the league papers this week

The next important match we have is the next round of the challenge cup which is 8/9/10 may so why not get it done now, have him back his best for the run in and later rounds of the cup??

We have a tough schedule of 3 games in 8 days, so we need as many bodies as possible to fill the squads. If he had the surgery now, he will miss 2/3 weeks so Wigan (a), Hull (h), Cas (a), Bradford (h). Depending who we get drawn in the cup we have a period in May with Wigan (edinburgh), cup, Catalans (a) - which on paper is easier than the current run of games.

He'll probably get it done after the Wigan or Hull game.
