I think gidley is an all round better player thay lyon who in my opinion was more of an attacking Centre

I'd say the exact opposite.

Gidley is a specialist centre and one of the best in the business at it, Lyon is a fantastic off the cuff ball player and could do a job across most if not all of the back line.

Still, different strokes for different folks.
