Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS
Interesting point about purpose built RL stadiums (sorry, stadia) in Superleague. Assuming Salford is ready before us we'll be only the 3rd new purpose built RL stadium in Superleague, if not we'll be the 2nd. Depressing really.
Why is it depressing?
I think it would be great if everyone had a stadium at least as good as LSV.
Castleford, Wakefield, Bradford, Catalans, St Helens, Celtic and Salford should all have new stadiums within the next 10 years although if we are lucky in some cases. A few of those will be done within 2-3 and some 5 hopefully. Also Hull KR and Leeds with plans to extend existing stadiums, these will be great still having the old features of rugby league stadia. Hull, Hudds, Wigan, Warrington and Quins already have sufficient facilities. With the main applicants for super league being Leigh, Widnes and Halifax and all of these having good stadia, the future looks bright for stadiua within rugby league. At least we are heading in the right direction.
I am shocked at the number of loos there are on that plan. How can the average Saints fan cope with lots of loos to chose from? That alone will be an amazing experience!
Dont forget, we are moving our current toiletS into the new stadium also.

I'm assuming he means its depressing that there are not already more new build 'purpose-built RL stadia' by now in superleague?

The plans look good. I just hope that we don't end up feeling too far away from the action as in some places. One of the great things about KR is that there is a definite feeling of being a part of it.

Exactly, i think the best thing about watching the game at the GPW is how close we, as fans, are to the pitch and the players. Close enough for players and officials to hear when someone shouts abuse at them from the back of the scaff in fact!

Well, I wasn't actually thinking about that, probably since the most abusive I get towards players and/or officials is something like 'whaddya think ya doin?' Granted, I shout it loudly, but it's more likely to elicit a laugh than anything else.
I was thinking more about the excitement of a possible try or a great hit or like when Leeds came to visit and we almost had open warfare on the pitch. Man, that was a good match! I'd hate to lose that kind of experience. But in all other respects, can't wait for the new stadium, much as KR has many fond memories.

No, i got what you meant and agree totally I love how involved being so close to the pitch makes you feel. The abuse thing was in reference to some comedy comments from those around me most weeks and a particularly well timed shout at Mr Smith from TM-TL.
